I love Castle Island! There is so much open space that even large crowds seem small. You are surrounded on three sides by the Boston Harbor which is filled with sailboats, cruiseboats, and sightseeing boats of all sizes. We have been going to castle island for years and now enjoy taking our kids. It consists of public beaches, an old fort - Fort Indepence, a really nice and updated playground, outdoor restaurant, and a long walk around the water. Castle Island is located in South Boston across the harbor from Logan Airport. This is a great place to watch airplanes coming in for a landing as they dip very low over the park. I am a mom of four children, Castle Island is a wonderful place to visit. My four year old son loves the planes flying low overhead, and the playground.
