It's nice to go to a place that isn't a huge multi-plex for a change. Show the kids what going to the movies used to be like. More

I moved to Asheville a little over a year ago from New York City, where access to great films can't be beat, and I was worried that I would feel deprived. The Fine Arts Theater is one of the places that help keep me up to date. It offers a good selection of arts films, documentaries, and features that would... More

We disliked nothing here! We've seen Ann Hampton Calloway on Broadway in "Swing" some years ago. She was better in Asheville relating to the audience in a very unique way. Her voice improves with age and her accompanist on the piano was also a "very good indeed." She did imitations of Barbra Streisand, Billie Holliday and Ella Fitzgerald that were... More

Most of the movies are foreign movies with subtitles, not a big fan of this. Also, upstairs setting is much better then downstairs. More

Be sure to pick a movie that sounds good, as they also have some off the wall features that are a waste of time....but its a nice little place with only FAIR seats. (old style) More

This is one cool cinema. Don't ask me what it was when I was a teenager in Asheville(oops!) This cinema shows the "artsy" films first...loved The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series in the original Swedish. Any beverage you desire is available. Truly the "IN" place for adults who love foreign and art films. More
