First time ever for a double decker theater. What a beautiful place. Loved the art deco building. Exceptional maintenance. Serving up beer and wine with your popcorn. Superb non-mainstream movies most of us would never see if it wasn't for this venue. We will return next week for a second helping. Try it, you'll like it.

The location is superb--right in downtown Asheville, making it very convenient to a host of good restaurants, shopping, galleries, and plain old people watching. Hint: For parking, try the lot in the Aloft Hotel practically across the street. The movies playing here are always the best--the ones that get superb reviews. The sound and picture quality are excellent. The seating... More

There are many venues that make Asheville a wonderful place to live and visit. The Fine Arts Theater is one of them. With three indie films shown simultaneously, the audience gets to see exceptional foreign films that would be missed if not for this Theater.

After enduring multi-plex theaters with their poor sound control and missing the "little", often independent, films I so enjoy, I was pleased to be back in the Asheville area and visiting the Fine Arts Theater once again. It is right downtown so you can make a day of browsing the shops, having a meal at a locally owned restaurant, and... More

This theater is what going to the movies is all about. The main theater is huge and well maintained over the years. Very enjoyable experience overall! Infinitely better atmosphere, cleanliness and movie selection than Carolina Cinema or any of the big box movie theaters. Dropped in midday to spontaneously see Kumiko and was pleasantly surprised to be able to purchase... More

The Fine Arts Theatre is a nice size for a small city like Asheville. Two current movies were being played and we liked that one was a foreign-movie. the prices were better than what we pay in a larger city.

Couldn't wait to return to his theater (from 3 years ago). The staff appears to be film-fans, which enhances the experience. The films they select are cream of the crop - especially when you're finishing up an Oscar viewing list. They have unique (locally made goods) and ordinary concessions. They also serve beer & wine (yay!). It's Art Deco top... More

We had just been home from New Orleans 1 day. To say I was tired was an understatement. But Tracy wanted to go to the Fine Arts Theater and watch the movie Wild with Reese Witherspoon. So we did. I haven't been to the Fine Arts Theater in about 20 years so it was nice to go and watch a... More

It is good to have Scotty Corbin back where he belongs. Looking forward to the fine entertainment of 2015 and his wonderful plays put on by the Overlook Theatre.

This two-screen theater has been serving independent films to Asheville residents since the last millennium. A cozy place that's perfect for after a downtown dinner. You can even drink a beer while you watch.
