I liked the selection, atmosphere, and friendly staff at this independent book shop. I was only visiting Asheville for the weekend, but they've won my loyalty. Definitely plan to support them by ordering books and gifts online instead of using Amazon.

When you are in Asheville, stop by this bookstore to get a latte and a book. There are not that many small privately owned bookstores left in America and this is a really good one.

This is a cute little bookstore with lots of character. Happened in on a book reading and signing and the place was packed. Fun to browse around. Of course, that is if you like to read.

It really does my heart good to see an independent bookstore really thriving. We went there in search of local interest books, specifically about hiking in Asheville. The employee knew just about every possible book on the subject, she was quite impressive! She mentioned that she and other employees had been working there for years so that is one reason... More

Malaprop's Bookstore is the individually owned bookstore you used to have in your town -- until the big chains bullied them out of business. It's packed full of great choices & varieties in reading, eclectic arrangements and stacks of books and gifts, and boasts a calendar of author signings and talks. If you like to read, save several hours of... More

One of my favorite authors was doing a reading here in August. It was the first time I'd ever been to Malaprop, I'm sorry I haven't been there sooner. It is exactly what a bookstore should be: filled with book lovers, on both sides of the sales counter. They have a wide and varied selection and they have a fantastic... More

I loved, loved, loved this bookstore! The staff is wonderful, the attached coffee shop is very nice and it has all sorts of kitschy gift items as well. Not very big but a lovely place.

At one time every city had numerous bookstores that either catered to their respective neighborhoods or focused on certain genres. They are rarer than the dinosaur today. Malaprop's is a destination in that if you never read books, you can see how a bookstore reflects the "vibe" of a city just by scanning their offerings. I purchased a book and... More

I was visiting Asheville and decided to stop in Malaprop's. I got a smoothie and read at the bar. It was a lovely little spot for a relaxing afternoon. The staff were friendly and casual.

Visited here this past weekend and whenever I go to a new city, I love to check out the independent book scene. If you're like me, don't miss Malaprops!!!! The selection was great, staff very friendly, even on a busy Friday. I loved, loved the craft-paper wrapped books that the staff picks. I'd read about it here on another review... More
