I have family in the Asheville area, so I stay in this city fairly frequently. I wouldn't dream of leaving Asheville without visiting this community landmark. Like the mega-bookstores, it offers a wide selection of titles. Unlike the mega-bookstores, it also showcases local authors. Additionally, Malaprops has evening bookreadings, music, and discussions. Parents: their children's section is amazing!!! Caffeine- and...

Love this bookstore - great browsing, love the "staff picks" and comments, varied special events, interesting merchandise - one of my favorite places to pass the time in Asheville - support your local bookstore and shop here! (I'm not affiliated - just a big fan)

They carry a good selection of books and other gift items. They also have a small coffee shop. Often, they bring in local writers. If you are in the area and want to get a flavor of Asheville, this is a good place to visit.

I love books and I especially like that at Malaprops the staff give guidence with their " favorites". It is wonderful to be helped by people who read.
I will always try to go through Asheville to stop there when I am on my way back to AL

I haven't liked a bookstore this much since Powell's in Portland and Elliott Bay Books in Seattle. This has that same feel, only smaller in scope. Personal staff recommendations for books are helpful, as well as displays for award winners and "banned books" (my personal favorite). Gift wrap during Christmas week was free and expertly done. Selections different, unusual, and...

always a refuge from the lovely streets of Asheville...love to meander through this intelligent throwback coffee house/book store. Makes me pine for the independent, small, well stocked and eclectic 80's bookstores of my past.....what can I say, I LOVE MALAPROPS!!!!!!!!

There is always an event, a new find in local writers and the best cross selection of any small bookstore on the east coast. Fine service from the staff and a quiet sense of welcome to the traveler as well as locals.

I;d heard about Malaprops and wanted to check them out while we were on vacation.
The bookstore isn't very big but has a fair amount of books. I would say their focus in on local authors (superb) and oddities. Hubby and daughter didn;t find anything they wanted but I found some great local books and a cute Malaprop's coffee cup...

This is a small downtown bookstore/cafe. It would appear that they have quite a few authors that stop by for signings so check the website calendar if that's your thing. A little disappointed in the lack of older books, it's more of a non chain store offering mostly mainstream titles. There are some off beat sections and the atmosphere is...
