Took shelter in Malaprops on a rainy night - our December visit to Asheville wasn't the best weatherwise - best couple of hours. I am a school librarian and the kids section was amazing - jotted down quite a list of books to add to my school collection. Staff friendly. Great coffee.

Malaprop's is among my favorite independent bookstores and is a must-visit spot in Asheville. The folks here know their books and authors. I often visit the bookcase that greets you at the front, which has the staff recommendations. I also like to read from the 'banned book' shelf. Great vibe at this place.

Very nice bookstore and cafe. We often browse and have a drink too. They have a wide selection in many topics. Nice folks too.

An amazing bookstore in the heart of Asheville, with LOCAL LOCAL LOCAL orientation all over it. A small cafe to enjoy a hot beverage on a chilly day, a small but deep collection of books from local history to sci-fi, literature, cookbooks and more, are packed into this smallish store. The clerks were super helpful, and you can feel the... More

MY FAVORITE BOOKSTORE!!! This bookstore makes me think of a time, not that long ago where independent book stores existed. It is filled with a fantastic book selection, local books and cafe. The care and love found in this place makes me wish there were more stores like this than chain bookstores. Walking down the aisles you see labels and... More

A friend had suggested Malaprop's a must see on our visit to Asheville. I loved the atmosphere, quirky shop employee. There was an author appearance that evening and the patrons were very excited. I would definitely recommend this store for unique book ideas

This is a wonderful independent bookstore, the type of store that is becoming more rare in 21st century America. Wonderful selection, and it looks like they support a number of reading groups and book clubs. Asheville is fortunate to have this shop. Very helpful staff.

Looking for a new book, a cup of joe or a talk from an accomplished author, well then you have found the place. Malaprop's Bookstore has all three. Browse and buy a good read. Get a beverage of your choice at the cafe and wait for an author to discuss his/hers latest work. A great way to spend an evening.

High quality local bookstore packed to the gills with everything you could possibly want to read. Great gifts section at the front of the store, and a little coffeeshop inside.

We were on an afternoon tour of Asheville; when we ate lunch, one person noticed on her iPhone that Malaprop's was nearby. After finishing, we ran there to see the bookstore. Six retired teachers, including a librarian, were in heaven here! Great displays. Would have loved to stay longer.
