This was my first trip to Asheville in some years. Pack Square is now opened up, well designed, and is bordered by some lovely historic and contemporary buildings. In particular, the Biltmore corporate headquarters, designed by I. M. Pei, is striking and captures a wonderful reflection of the sky across it's facade. Across the way you can enjoyed The Chocolate... More

Great walking area. Wonderful architecture to see. Well kept older buildings. People enjoying themselves all over the area. Nice coffee shops and boutique shops.

Cool place downtown that is worth some of your time especially if you are visiting the city center anyway! Nothing too special to expect!

We were here on a Monday about 5 pm, so that may be a factor; but the open Square has changed since the last time I was there. Then; clean, lots of families and students. Now: trash, homeless sleeping with their belongings, couples on the ground making out and groping each other; no families, lots of students. (Get a clue,... More

There is a lot to do in Asheville and here is where to get your bearings. It offers a sense of the 'culture' of the area and a place to set your compass/GPS for more to come.

Asheville has the most unique and attractive downtown and the area around Pack Square is the very center. It's an open area with a few large buildings, shops, and restaurants on one side and the famous City Hall and Court House on the opposite side. The openness gives it a really cool feeling to have such a nice open area... More

Pack Square has a lot of Asheville all in one place. The Asheville Museum, lots of restaurants, pubs, monuments, and sights. There are also street performers (silver lady, musicians, singers, jugglers, magicians, etc.). Weekends are the best time to visit and especially Saturday night. All are a great introduction to this city.

go 3 to 4 blocks in any direction of Pack Square and you will find an interesting, safe and friendly walk. Asheville is a great small city...eclectic, diverse, surprisingly liberal. It has some great historic architecture, a nice amount of small parks and green spaces. It has a great variety of restaurants , street bistros, bars etc. Good shopping, helpful... More

Downtown Asheville area. Parking was easy on the street. We went around 5 pm. The monuments and fountains were interesting. Had plaques explains things and their significance to the history of the city. Some of the shops were quaint, but it should be noted for families that several shops cater to the more hippie type lifestyle. Not judging - just... More

In the very center of everything Asheville has to offer, is Pack Square. An oasis in center city. From here, you can walk to pretty much anything in town. We saw fireworks on the 4th, visited the fire station, shopped, ate lunch on the green. Public restrooms are available. Just a nice place to meet your clan or regroup.
