Our son and his new bride were married in Asheville in September 2014. It was a destination wedding so we hosted a Welcome Party for 125 guests at the Capital Club the night before the ceremony. The Weinhaus provided all of our beer and wine, including delivering it up to the venue the day of the party. Hunt was so great to work with--he provided great wine suggestions based on our planned menu and the wines got excellent reviews from our guests. We also did a combo of draft and bottled beer--all local to Asheville--again following Weinhaus recommendations. One last thing: We had no idea what kind of quantities to figure on for a party that size, but Hunt made estimates based on his experience and nailed it: We had maybe eight bottles of beer and two bottles of wine left over at the end of the night!

We saw that this place had good reviews and decided to hang out and have a glass of wine while the kids did some shopping. The cheese selection and their knowledge of the cheeses were very impressive. I only wish we had not already eaten so we could have had lunch here as well.

The Weinhaus has existed since the late 1970s. So it is the oldest wine shop in Asheville. It is also the newest, having been completely renovated in 2013!
Besides a great selection of wines, including older Burgundy and Bordeaux vintages, the place now has a bar (The Cork and Keg) and a Cheese Shop.
The bar features quite a few draft beers, and wines by the glass and bottle. Once or twice a week there is live music.
I have reviewed The Cheese Store of Asheville separately. Suffice it to say it is the best place to get cheese in Western North Carolina!

The Manager showed rude customer service and poor managerial skills by criticizing a new employee in front of customers (manager, that’s taught in Mgmnt 101, dont publicly admonish employees). Nice selection of wines to buy retail but wines by the glass selection were poor. Go elsewhere.

An exceptional place to try new wines and on Saturdays paint with a local husband and wife (The Paint Bug). Always greeted with a smile and my favorite wine! Small place but always warm and cozy atmosphere. Great selection of wine and beer on the retail side.

A great little place to listen to music, visit with friends, and enjoy some well chosen beverages, right in the heart of downtown Asheville.

Cold Mountain Beer is a limited supply beer brewed by Highland Brewing, right here in Asheville. It gets very hard to find in bottles. Many places sell out of it within hours of getting it in. There is even a twitter account where people share where they found it. The Weinhaus, has had the pint bottles two Saturdays in a row when I went to get some. Their bar will be tapping a keg soon of the Imperial Cold Mountain, not available in bottles, very soon. Friendly staff, great place to find many different beers and wines. Parking in DT Asheville can be a little dicey though, but they are worth the hassle.

We stopped in here to buy some wine for the room because the bars in town close at 9:30pm! Showed up and met the sweetest young lady working the early shift. She was extremely friendly and recommended numerous places to see before we left town. They had a great wine selection by the bottle and cold draft beer. Had a few drinks and started our beer brewery crawl the rest of the day. Great place to start the tours!
