Craggy Gardens is a nice place to have a picnic, and we planned to picnic here one day in June, but it was cold and misty, so we drove South on the Blue Ridge Parkway and found a place for lunch. There are hiking trails for the outdoor lovers. The Rhodendron's were large and in bloom. There is ample parking,... More

Beautiful climb from Asheville. Great pavement and gradual climb with incredible scenery. Perfect stop stop for water and views.

Craggy Gardens is a beautiful placce to visit. It's up in the mountains, and takes a little while to get there. It's off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and driving on that at anytime is relaxing.

This area is one of many Blue Ridge Parkway stops that offer awesome views of the Appalachian Mountains. The hikes are easy walks; there is a visitor center and restrooms, the Pinnacle at 5892' and the Craggy tunnel.

The view is not worth the hike, which is all uphill and nearly a mile. Not far to the north is Mount Mitchell, the tallest peak east of the Mississippi, which is much more easily accessed ... and naturally has better views.

This is a short easy hike with very nice views at the top. The parking lot has many picnic tables, a restroom, and a place to throw away your trash. You can never go wrong when travelling on The Blueridge Parkway.

There are two hikes at this site. One is accessible from the parking lot and the other is a short drive through a very neat tunnel through the mountain. The first trail takes you up a trail that takes some effort if you're not used to hiking. It's not a difficult trail at all, but it's got a bit of... More
