This was a nice break from driving the Blue Ridge Parkway! It may be a bit challenging for the very young or anyone not sure footed due to a lot of stepping up on rocks that serve as part of the path. Took us about 40 minutes to walk it completely.

Craggy Gardens is a short drive up the Bluegrass Parkway from Asheville. We have been going there for years. The main overlook has a small visitor center with restrooms and a ranger. The view there takes in the Asheville reservoir, and it is gorgeous. Drive a little further on and you come to the very short hiking trail (less than... More

The pinnacle of Craggy Gardens is an amazing 360 degree view of the mountains. Do not miss out! It is a short, easy hike up. Bring a backpack and make a afternoon of it.

A favorite hike of ours is Craggy Pinnacle Hike. Only a .8 mile hike through a rhododendron and tree covered path. It opens to a field and then continues to two levels - lower and upper summits. Lots of photo opts. At the top is a 360 degree view of the mountains. The pinnacle is covered with rhododendrons. While just... More

The staff in the gift shop was very friendly and knowledgeable in giving trip advice. The surrounding area is really nice and there is a nice picnic shelter area near the parking area.

I guess we were there too early for the blooming of the Rhodies and azaleas, so it was just a nice hike.

.7 mile "hike" up to the summit was worth the beautiful view. There is a nice area at the top for sitting and viewing the area. Hike was mostly uphill, but not terrible.

My friends and I visited Asheville for Memorial Day weekend. Had a great idea to hike Craggy Gardens on advice from other friends. So glad we did. This is a very easy trail-- only .7 miles to the top and very scenic through the rhododendron trees. Great pic opportunity at the top :) Take a lunch and picnic nearby. Super... More

Beautiful area, easy hike with a spectacular view, and plenty of picnic areas available. Free map of the parkway at the visitor center, also.
