The view is not worth the hike, which is all uphill and nearly a mile. Not far to the north is Mount Mitchell, the tallest peak east of the Mississippi, which is much more easily accessed ... and naturally has better views.

This is a short easy hike with very nice views at the top. The parking lot has many picnic tables, a restroom, and a place to throw away your trash. You can never go wrong when travelling on The Blueridge Parkway.

There are two hikes at this site. One is accessible from the parking lot and the other is a short drive through a very neat tunnel through the mountain. The first trail takes you up a trail that takes some effort if you're not used to hiking. It's not a difficult trail at all, but it's got a bit of... More

I went here with a friend to do some day hiking. I just enjoyed everything from the drive to the hike. I would recommend giving yourself enough time to indulge in the beautiful wilderness.

Easy short hike with a great vista at the top. Just the thing to stretch your legs during a driving tour of the parkway or a day picnic from Asheville area

Craggy Gardens offers a beautiful view of the mountains. There are picnic areas and trails to enjoy as well. Not that far Asheville so you can go down and enjoy the city as well.

If you are looking for a spectacular view this is probably not the spot now. We were there on Sunday and it is already way past its peak for this year. All the leaves are gone. Dress warm, it is significantly colder up the mountain and also very windy!

I love the scenery at Craggy Gardens. When beginning the hike, it feels almost like you are walking through a tunnel of scraggly trees in places. Toward the top, there is a nice view of the mountains. I did not find the hike difficult, though you do need to be able to walk uphill on a rocky and sometimes muddy... More
