Cute old Woolworth building made into an art gallery with lots of art shops. None of the artists are there to talk to you just a display of their stuff and a cashier. Wish it was more personal.

There are some great places to eat in downtown Asheville, but we wanted to try something nostalgic and nostalgic we got!!!! The lunch counter has been beautifully restored and serves great food and delicious milk shakes. I had the fried bologna sandwich and a chocolate shake and it was great. My friends had the egg salad, chicken salad, and club... More

A great old Woolworth store left pretty much the way it was when it closed (other than art and craft has replaced the old merchandise counters). Very inventive art work on two levels AND they kept the lunch counter and soda fountain and it is a wonderful trip back to an earlier time. Great style, great art...what more could you... More

Love all of the different works of art here. Many with very reasonable prices. We walked through most of the River Arts District and I saw many of those artists represented at Woolworth. So if you don't have time to get to the RAD or if, as was our experience, many of the galleries were closed, never fear! Just head... More

As a former NYC resident (now a Floridian) Walking around downtown Asheville while waiting to have a table available at the restaurant it was a heart stopping moment for me when I looked at the Woolworth sign.. My mind was flooded with beautiful memories of a much younger time when shopping there was such a treat. As I approached the... More

It was great how they kept the soda fountain functioning and opened up the space for local artists. It is worth going through.

We enjoyed the art and had a hard time deciding what to buy. The diner was so cute! We ended up buying art and were happy we stopped by the Woolworth Walk

Since I am a crone sickened by nostalgia, when I saw the red and gold sign "F. W. Woolworth," I entered, my mouth watering for jelly beans, licorice whips and bullseyes. All I found was a lot of artsy-craftsy stuff, some good, most according to my fuddy-duddy opinion trite or not quite. I felt cheated! Bring back the jelly beans!

As a Londoner I was surprised on my first trip to USA (long ago!) to discover that Woolworths was American. Woolworths is long gone from both countries, yet here it was in Asheville. Mainly a local arts and crafts gallery now but its piece de resistance is the lunch counter that took me right back to 3rd Avenue and 86th... More

This is a very unique spot, all local artists and craftsmen, we picked up most of our gifts for friends from here. There is a cool soda fountain here as well that has burgers, sandwiches and things like that. Good prices and selection, great place for a tourist!
