Neat Art and a Woolworth Counter still in use

We went to this store because I had to show my children about a working Woolworth lunch counter. I had read there would be a waiting line, which there was the day we were there... read more

We went to this store because I had to show my children about a working Woolworth lunch counter. I had read there would be a waiting line, which there was the day we were there. We didn't eat but it was fun to remember the day I use to eat at one. The rest of the store is small booth... More

Lots of really nifty stuff to see. More than the art museum by far. This is a great place to browse or shop while you are downtown.

Two floors with a wide variety of (unmanned) indoor booth displays of artists from clay to fiber to jewelry to painting. If you like something, take it to the counter and buy it. Look as long as you want, carefully pick up and investigate a piece (don't touch the paintings, though, of course!). Unpretentious and accessible. Bonus: an old-fashioned soda... More

My mom is from Asheville, and growing up we went to see family all the time...and I saw downtown start to die like most downtown districts in the country...then thankfully Asheville stepped up and revitalized and came back to life. I truly love the variety of Woolworth Walk!

I have encountered few better repurposes of failed retail businesses than this one. Asheville has taken what was once a Woolworth's 5 & Dime store and turned it into an art gallery displaying and selling the work of local artists. They have retained the Woolworth's soda counter where you can enjoy a BLT and float.

The eatery is just like in the old Woolworth stores from long ago. A lot of cool crafts and awesome art in the store.

A big hit for us, my teens loved the milkshakes & sandwiches from the old fashioned soda shop and it was also a good opportunity to see some Asheville art in a unique setting. Definitely worth a stop!

This great old Woolworth's store located in downtown Asheville has been converted to an artists' coop. Lots of fun pieces to see! And while you're there, you can have lunch at the still-operating Woolworth's lunch counter! Be prepared to enjoy yourself! Right outside there were street performers, which made it even more fun to hang you!

This is a great place to go when it's raining outside...this place is so full of "stuff" you can wander around for hours. Paintings, pottery, "yard sale" items, photos, it is all tucked away inside the Woolworths store. Don't think of going there just for the counter because it is standing room only (or at least when we went), the... More
