This reminds me of the old country stores in Vermont and New Hampshire. It carries everything from food to toys to clothes to hats to books and of course candy. A fun place to wander around on your trip to downtown Asheville.

This is a fun shop to visit, I got a few scarves at a very reasonable price. The best part of the store is the basement floor where it has outdoor clothing and gear.

We almost didn't bother - but once we got in, we all went in differnt directions and all 4 of us came up with something to buy, clothes, candy, books, a hat - something for everyone. SUPER helpful sales staff also. Don't miss this in Asheville.

So glad we stopped here. They have candy, clothing, hats, outdoor gear, jams and jellies, toys, jewelry, and so much more. It's 2 stories of fun!

We paid $6 to park on a Saturday night and browse Mast General half an hour before closing time. Everyone in our family found something delightful to buy- even if some of it was just old fashioned candy that is hard to find anywhere else. A great place to take kids to show them some old-timey stuff.....although the original Mast... More

If you're in Asheville don't leave before you stop by the Mast General Store. Lots of unique gifts and items that you won't find just anywhere. Don't forget to check out the bottom floor for hiking/camping supplies.

we are trying to visit all the mast general stores. This one is in downtown asheville. It does not have the charm of the original, but it does have charm of its own. It is a great outdoor store. They also have a nice selection of candy, but not as many glassed bottled sodas as the Valle crucis store. Still... More

It seems if you've been to one of theses store you've been to them all. But the store was well kept and the staff was friendly.
