This store was right downtown and had so many nice souvenirs and great clearance items too! Friendly staff and a great place to shop in Asheville.

At my age, I remember penny and nickel candy bars. This place has a large area loaded with candies from the 1930's and 1940's. Remember a tootsie roll, or candy corn, or mary jane? Granted no longer 5cents, but a treat, nevertheless. It's just an ole timey place. The best Mast store is in Valle Cruz with remnants of a... More

This not the original, historic store; that one is in Valle Crucis, NC. This store is about 50% tourist trap, 50% hiking/camping clothing, shoes, & gear.

This was a stop on the trolley and recommended. I found it ok. It was shopping. I expected it would be like going back in time. It was not. They did have old-fashion candy, and some toys including lunch boxes that were replicas of the past such as I love Lucy. A lot of old fashion looking kitchen items. For... More

Was surprised at how chilly it got in Asheville in the evenings so checked out this store. They have a lot of great things and ideas. I was amazed at all the items they had from shoes, rain coats, bags, survival gear, bags etc. The staff was extra helpful and the prices were very good. Lucky stop.

What an awesome place. Takes you back in time with the old fashion candies they sell, the games and toys from back in the day. Clothing/Shoes seemed to be a bit pricey but all in all a great place to visit.

We had some extra time before meeting some friend and ventured into Mast General Store. Over an hour later and few purchases we could not believe how quickly the time went. It is a large store with so many thing you many not see at other places. From hiking gear, kitchen supplies, body product and candy there is something for... More

A lot of items to look through. Prices pretty good until you go down stairs where all the shoes and outfitting clothes, camping and shoes were. A men's brimmed hat was $78.00 and same thing was $25.00 at wal-mart. But people very nice

I loved this store! I took my 9 and 11 year old daughter into this general store to explain how it use to be in the past. I don't think they enjoyed the experience as much as I did but they loved the candy section in the back. They have all of the updated name brands in this store. Also... More

I have been going to Mast when in Asheville for years. It has an interesting product mix and if you have kids, the store has a rather large bulk candy section. I have noticed that they have reduced certain hardware goods such as washboards and washtubs in favor of more souvenir type items. I bought my great aunt a washboard... More
