Great place to buy outdoorsy clothes.

Mast General is my kind of store; sort of like the best of L.L. Bean and REI in a more classic setting.

This place which was a 5 &dime many years ago has been resurrected in 1996 by the new owners. They have everything. Nostalgic hardwood floors and a feeling of going back in time. They sell everything, except tobacco, alcohol & coffins. Buy seriously they are a gem to shop in, but give yourself at least an hour just to browse.... More

This store has everything from candy to clothes. And they even have nehi soda. Yum I haven't had nehi since I was a kid and it brought me back 35 years.

This store has a wide variety of items. We especially loved the candy bins. They had a lot of clothes and kitchen items. Fun stop.

Went here with family. They have a variety of merchandise similar to that of a five and dime of years past. Some prices are a bit too high but overall a good experience.

Mast is just a cool old style general store with a lot of clothing and camping gear. This one seems to be more clothes and camping gear than the general store type stuff, but still very cool..

This is the 3rd Mast General Store location I've visited and it doesn't disappoint. A little bit of everything for everyone. I especially like their camping/outdoor gear section. Always something unique that you can't find anywhere else. Definitely worth stopping in when strolling through downtown Asheville!

Quite an interesting place. Didn't have enough time to do a lot of looking around which if you go to this place you need time to enjoy. Staff was friendly. Ran into a rude tourist. Maybe she couldn't find what she was looking for.

We go to Asheville 3 or 4 times every summer for long weekends and we always make a stop into The Mast General Store. The children insist on filling up their little green wicker baskets with all kinds of candy. They have great casual and outdoor adventure clothing. And, they have walls and walls full of unique little gifts and... More
