This lovely arboretum and gardens makes use of its unusual hill-top location to give visitors a wonderful experience. We loved being up on the mountainside and all the flowers and trees, and especially loved the bonzai exhibit.

We have had a membership at the Arboretum for almost a decade, and never tire of visiting the gardens. There are quite a few special exhibitions, too, with the bonsai expo in October being the most popular. We also really enjoy the dahlia and mums festivals. The gardens are lovely, and there are walking trails of varying lengths through the...

The gardens were lovely. We especially enjoyed the hiking trails on well-groomed paths. There is a cute little cafe if you get hungry that served well prepared food. The gift shop is nice too.

The bonzai garden is amazing! The grounds as a whole are wonderful to stroll through. Give this one at least 2 hours.

No mountains IN the Arboretum, although there are mountain view all around. There is a small cafe if you wish to eat there. Offers very nice selections. Many activities offered as...

Of course Biltmore has the huge formal gardens, the fabulous greenhouse, and the swarms of people. But this is quite different. It's a well done mix of education and visual pleasures. This grounds are beautifully laid out and this is a very enjoyable half day. We enjoyed wandering. One of the highlights was the bonsai gardens. Lots of unusual specimens, all perfectly groomed and well presented. We were not able to see the checkerboard garden because they were in the process of planting, but that also looks like a highlight. If...

We biked into the Arboretum while camping in the Lake Powhatan campground. It's a nice, easy ride the whole family can enjoy. The grounds are beautful and the trails are wide enough to accommodate hikers and bikers at the same time.
