What a beautiful garden! So nicely laid out, with a great little cafe and gift shop. Trails, formal gardens, bonsai, a little bit of everything. Wonderful place to spend an hour or a day.

We participated in a 1 1/2 mile nature walk through the woods of the arboretum. Our guide, Tony, was fantastic! He shared his knowledge about trees in an entertaining and educational manner that was interesting and easy to understand. We had a much greater appreciation of our surroundings after this experience. Afterwards, we ate lunch at the Cafe and were... More

The lady at the information desk gave us some great ideas of how to visit the Arboretum and where to start. We are members of the famous Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square PA , we consider that facility the "Gold Standard". We were really impressed with the designs and planning that have gone into this facility. We arrived during the... More

Escape the hustle and noise of the highways surrounding Asheville with a visit to the Arboretum. The bonsai collection is amazing, the gardens are lovely - we usually take an afternoon and a good book to spend in the quiet beauty. Well worth it -

Our first visit won't be our last. The fall colors and Olmsted-inspired vistas was a visual feast. Walk ways and wanders yield ideas and education. The bonsai garden was especially educational. A Chrysanthemum show and weaving exhibit added interesting extras. Topped off the perfect day with a trip to downtown Asheville...

Every North Carolinian should see this arboretum. The native plant life is great and the more formal gardens are relaxing. The Bonsai garden is one of the best we have seen.

We went to the arboretum for the first time on our recent trip to Asheville. We had received recommendations for the trails there, so we took our two dogs with us. We loved the variety of trails with different levels of challenge. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit as did our pups. It was absolutely worth the $12 parking fee to... More

They have a $12 "parking" fee per car. I thought it was a little high but we wanted to see it. The facilities were in great condition. The gardens and trails were well maintained. We were unlucky just due to later in the afternoon arrival and overcast, rainy weather. I'd love to visit again when we could spend more time... More

The NC Arboretum is a wonderful place to spend a day out with the family. There is so much to see at this incredibly beautiful place. Even Fido can go and walk miles through this exceptional place. I go to the Arboretum to think about things. It's easy to have a clear mind when you have such beauty around you.
