A truly beautiful botanical garden. The bonsai garden is special. Unexpectedly, the gift shop has an excellent selection of items from local artists.

Great visit, both to the beautifully landscaped gardens and to the hiking trails beyond. Spent about 4-5 hours there, all of them thoroughly enjoyable.

I have visited the Arboretum on multiple occasions because of being an a resident of Asheville, but I visit often because of how beautiful it is. (If you live in the area, I strongly suggest buying a year long pass because the parking fees have gone up) This is an absolutely wonderful place to come whether you want a short... More

We read the reviews & I was super excited to stroll the gardens, but we didn't see much ? Think we missed something? Which is possible b/c there were several weddings that day. We went in early afternoon & left b/c of a wedding & not wanting our children to disrupt. So we went back in evening & had same... More

We took the 1pm Tuesday nature hike. Advertised as 1.5 hrs, it took a 2.5 hrs on a hot day. The guide, Tony, spoke at length about every plant specie on the grounds, as well as about a couple hundred more that are not on the grounds! He over did it, but the gentle walk thru the woods & trails... More

The seventy-five mile drive takes me from the heat of South Carolina summer to this mid-altitude oasis in the Blue Ridge mountains. I've always found these gardens well maintained and nicely curated with good color in most seasons. There is a pleasing lack of tourist gimmicks with the gardens feeling understated in a pleasing way. The visitor infrastructure is most... More

Brought my elderly grandmother here because I was told we could use a wheelchair to get around easily. We were able to borrow a really nice chair in no time, and set off to hit a trail that we were told would be no problem. The grounds are lovely, cafe food good, but the trail was a bit washed out... Beautiful, well cared for gardens and lots of great trails. Next time I'll be bringing my mountain bike! The Bonsai exhibit was my favorite. A must-see for the outdoor lover.
