This is a relatively new arboretum in close range to the "cradle of forestry". If you are looking for old growth, this is not the place. If you want ideas about design and to check out cool displays this is it. If you want the best of both worlds, go to Biltmore and check out their gardens. The shrubs and... More

We went in the middle of August and nothing was in bloom so it wasn't very remarkable. They had a nice Bonsai exhibit but we have one where we live so it wasn't that remarkable. The grounds were very well maintained and we enjoyed taking a walk in the woods. Would probably be amazing in spring or early Fall, just... More

Pretty flowers. Didn't get to see much because a wedding was getting ready to start. Wish we would have known about that before we paid. Messed up our site seeing. We left. Oh well, just $12 wasted.

The NC Arboretum offers a range of gardens and woodland paths to explore. The focus is on native plants, including some relatively rare species (American Yellowwood, for example), but there are also more formal gardens, including an annual "quilt" garden (flowers planted following the pattern of one or another traditional quilt block) -- and a lovely display of some amazing... The Arboretum is a beautiful and serene place to spend the afternoon. The paths are easy to walk and you can see a lot of plants in a short walk. Everything is well labeled, making identifying species easy. I recommend it if you have time to spend.

The Arboretum has very nice gardens, plants and just overall is a great place to visit. They only charge $12 per vehicle and it's definitely great for people that love flowers, plants and just being outdoors walking. Everyone from age 10 to 67 in my family loved the place!

We really enjoy taking advantage of good weather days to visit the arboretum and had been limiting ourselves to the free entry days. This year we decided to join as members and were tickled pink to find the membership gave us free or discounted entry to gardens throughout the U.S. Strolling the formal garden areas or meandering under the trees... We mostly went hiking and biking on the trails. The trails were very nice and wide, but there were lots of big hills that some people might have trouble biking up. We didn't visit all of the gardens, but from what we saw, they were beautiful. The visitor center was very spacious, with comfy chairs after the tiring bike ride.... More

This place is amazing. It has something for everyone. It has the beautiful flowers and nature for the adults, the kids can run around in a lovely natural environment, there are trails if you want exercise. We bought a membership which is well worth the money and try to go often. There is always something new to see. Out last... More

Walk around and weave through our beautiful native plants, flowers and bushes. Go on one of the trail walks. Then don't forget to go inside and look at the culture of our mountains and art work! Beautiful, relaxing place to visit, often.
