We planned a bike ride before our session at Shoji - so our sore muscles were screaming for some relief. The session consists of time to move between a beautiful private hotter over looking trees and mountains; a steam room (shared) and a cold pool, before your massage. The 2 issues we experience were: 1. VERY loud people in a... More

We are huge fans of Japanese culture and appreciate the little touches offered at Shoji such as their dedication to the concept of continuous improvement. We found, however, that they have a little way to go. Staff was friendly, informative and helpful. We were celebrating and they helped me make the visit a little extra special. The setting is very... Shoji Retreats is located in a beautiful, peaceful mountain setting. The amenities are lovely. The staff is very friendly. Each massage was exactly as requested and we were all blissfully happy at the end of our visit. One head's up: We expected from the brochure that a soak in a private hot tub was available prior to the massage. We... More

Absolutely loved our time spent @ Shoji! We stayed in the studio & fell in love with the beauty & simplicity of our surroundings. Comfortable, no-nonsense accommodations & a relaxing day @ the spa were just what the doctor ordered. We were celebrating my husband's birthday & he couldn't have been more pleased. What a lovely place in the woods... More

Whenever I think of pure relaxation, I think of Shoji. Nestled high up in the mountains just outside of the Asheville city limits, Shoji offers private soaking tubs with a serene view that looks out into the forest. I'd love to try out their accommodations sometime, but I will definitely be back!

This place was outside the mountains of Asheville and very much out on its own. Drive to it you feel like your leaving today's society for a while. The hot tubs are awesome you can relax with your spouse and have a great time. They were a few ants crawling around but being in nature it is the be expected.... More

This is our second visit to the spa at Shoji. This time we also stayed the weekend in the Lodge. The Spa is Awesome! Showers are great with a lot of pressure. Then being able to relax in the sauna with an ice cold cloth with an oil on it was marvelous! After sweating for awhile we made it down... More

Went to the spa with friends for a graduation gift. It was amazing! Lauren was a fabulous masseuse and Zoe was the best hostess ever! Thanks again for a wonderful time.

My husband and I were really looking forward to our morning at shoji. We left very disappointed. The staff was flat & unwelcoming, the tubs were a bit run down & the massages were mediocre at best. The price you pay is outrageous & we were never even offered a glass of water. But we could have bought a bottle... More

Shoji is a beautiful place and located in a wonderful setting. The staff was nice and friendly and the spa experience was grand. However, our room (called the loft) was miserably hot. It was not like the staff was not aware. In fact they told us when we checked in that some people had problems with the temperature. We were... More
