We go almost every year, usually in June. A lot of our success depends on weather and whether the lake is up or down water wise. This year it was cold and rainey the first three days and while we caught some nice browns, on the cold days we caught no salmon. The last day we were there it warmed... More

We rented a small boat by the hour for a very reasonable rate. The lake was awesome for fishing or just cruising. The marina staff was very helpful to us as newbies to boats.

In order to really go after the big fish you need a boat. Fishing from the shore is really limited with steep rocky cliffs, we caught a lot of perch, some pretty big and one small trout in two days. The campgrounds are nice but there are no trees. Plan on an afternoon storm and lots of wind.

I've frequently fished Blue Mesa, from shore, in a boat and through the ice. Fishing for trout is solid in all three methods. It was great to see the lake is making it's high water mark currently. Restrooms are dotted along the lake, which are well kept. No running water, which is to be expected. There are massive lake trout... More

Blue Mesa is currently 99% full. Shore fishing is tough right now due to all the drift wood so boat fishing is the best way to catch fish.

Just went on a guided Kokanee Salmon trip with Robby from Sportfish Colorado. Robby was fantastic and made the trip an excellent experience for me, my dad, my brother and our friend from New Zealand. Robby warned us that the fishing this year was tough due to water levels and they were seeing lower numbers of catches. Robby worked hard... More

We hired a guide from SportFish. DJ worked his tail off to make sure we had a good day on the lake. Several kokanee, browns, and rainbows.

We went with Seth on his pontoon boat for our second trip this past week. Last year there were 2 of us, 7 of us this year. Robby was great to work with setting up the trips and Seth was an awesome guide both times. We enjoyed both trips and look forward to coming back again soon! We highly recommend... More
