First off I will confess not to be a nature person. We stopped here on our way through the everglades. As regular visitors to Florida we fealt it was time to get a feel for the everglades. We arrived in plenty of time for the 11am tram. Got out the car and the Mosquitoes immediately descended biting us before we... more

We came here late one afternoon after the last tram tour had left, so we didn't get to go all the way around, but walked the first mile or so out on the pathway and then came back. In that time we saw more alligators than we'd seen in the rest of our day in the Everglades, up close and... more

The tram tour is a 2-hour tour narrated by a ranger. It stops twice so you can get off at different places for the ranger to explain what you are seeing. The driver slows or stops whenever there is wildlife to see. You also get off to climb the observation tower at the far end of the trail. Alligators are... more

Shark Valley is a great place to ride a bike. It has a 15 mile paved loop with a tower 8 miles in from the east road, 7 miles from the west road. The tower has an amazing view of the Everglades which look a lot like Africa and you can see about 15 miles out from the tower. Just... more

As others have said here, whether by tram or bike this is one of the better ways to see the real nature of and get a quick education on the Everglades. If biking or hiking and you don’t have the time or energy to do the whole loop, then start on the west road. (It’s the one they recommend you... more

Our visit was the first week in October and it had been raining alot the week before so half of the park was flooded so you were only allowed to bike 5 miles in on each side of the park and the observaton tower was closed as was the tram system. We still wanted to do it and were very... more

This was by far the most enjoyable bike trail that I've come across. The gators, birds, scenery, flora, and observation tower are unbelievable. We biked the loop and didn’t take the tram. It is long, but since the trail is paved and flat, it is fairly easy. They tell you to allow 2-3 hours for the trek but 3-4 hours... more

It is $10 to get in and park. Then you have two options, a tram ride for $15 or bike rental for $6 an hour. I wanted to do the bikes, but there was waiting time for them. I think we should have gotten there earlier in the day. The tram is great because they give you a lot of... more

My friend took me to this place so we can ride bikes for exercise and fun. Entrance fee was $10 per car for a week and bike rentals were $6 an hour. I did my research beforehand and read that the West Road was the more scenic route, and that was the route we started off with first. The weather... more

I can't find anything to recommend an airboat ride on, but we did that as well as the tram tour in the park and it was great! The one we went to is on the south side of the highway leaving Miami and I believe it is the second one you come to after you leave Miami. They have a... more
