Short hike takes you to beautiful views of Rio Grande and the Boquillas Canyon. For children and adults alike have extra energies to burn, the sand dune is a wonderful playground. My children hiked to the top of the sand dune and slide down (not easy though) a couple of times. It was very fun for them. Just to warn... More

The view of Boquillas Canyon is not incredible when compared to other Big Bend Region Views. That said, my heart goes out to the people of Boquillas, Mexico who literally live in hand made adobe houses and who have running water perhaps two hours per day, no source of income and who have one light per house powered by a... It is amazing that so few people reviewed this place considering it is amazing. It is easy to reach, a short (1.4 miles round trip) mostly level hike from the parking lot. You will get very close to the Rio Grande and you will see Mexico just a few feet away. In fact it is interesting to see people on... More

From Panther Junction (Park Headquarters with a gas station), you drive about 23 miles. Rio Grande Village (a campground with a store and gas station) is about 2.4 miles from Boquillas Canyon. At the canyon, you can park your car, go up a small hill, and at the top you see holes in the ground where native Americans used to... More

Worth the long drive southeast from Panther Junction for the scenery on the way and the great mouth of the canyon as the river flows into it. The canyon walls are gigantic and almost ominous. A huge sand drift has piled up near the mouth of the canyon that would likely be fun for children. The easy walk from the... More
