About one mile (less than 5 minute drive) from the White Rock Visitor Center, location for the shuttle bus to Bandelier National Monument, is the White Rock Canyon Overlook Park. To get to the overlook point, drive past the sports fields and keep going past the parking lot until you see a sign for the overlook. There, you will find... More

About an easy hour drive from Santa Fe is a beautiful scenic vista which overlooks canyons and the rio grande river. It is at the end of a neighborhood development and fully paved drive

Go here if you want to see large expanses of this most beautiful part of New Mexico! Not far from Los Alamos, and a beautiful drive along the way! (Try going both ways in and out of Los Alamos (main highway and 4 Truck Route!)

The views from this overlook are great in the evening, even with story skies. It was great this time of year with lots of water in the Rio Grande.

Drive to the end of the small park to get some great views of the cliffs and mesa that make up the area scenery. See the Rio Grande below. Great spot for photos. On sunny days it will be hot.

after coming down from Los Alamos we took the turn for White Rocks and proceeded through a middle class neighborhood when we saw the sign for the park. Strolling toward the edge of the park we spotted a railing and went to look. The magnitude of the view was just astounding with a unlimited vista of mountains and the river

Okay, technically it's a county park, but Los Alamos is a contiguous City/County (like San Francisco). The view from Overlook Point is nonpariel, but that's just the beginning. Most casual visitors think that's pretty much it, but actually that's a tiny tip of a big iceberg. If you like casual hiking, you can stroll the rim of the Caja Del... More

There is some great views from this overlook over the river and mountains. However this is little else to do, I believe you can hike but we just rolled up, took pictures and left. The view is worth a small excursion if your visiting nearby (We were in Los Alamos).

If you are afraid of heights this may not be for you. Can hike down to the river, but you had better be in shape. I believe it is about 700-1000 ft. Down hill on a trail, but steep. You must know how to keep an eye open for rattle snakes in the spring/summer. If you want some pictures and... More
