We had a great time on this epic adventure. Eric was a great guide and made my wife and daughters feel comfortable rappelling. Eric even took hard to get pictures and sent them to me for free. The views were absolutely amazing. I would recommend this trip to anyone that is fit enough to do a six mile hike. Remember the water! Each one of us drank about 3 Liters!

When you are looking for Rappelling adventures in Moab, there are many options. In fact, too many options. This was what I faced when I was trying to find a company to guide my family on a 1/2 day rappelling adventure.
Of all the companies that I contacted, Eric at Windgate Adventures responded almost immediately. Eric was very clear in his communication, asked me to call him and walked me through some options. I was initially thinking about the Morning Glory rappelling but the one thing that i found is this is a popular route and will be filled with many other tour companies.
Eric offered an alternative of Medieval Chambers, which offer two rock climbs and two rappels. And most importantly there will not be many people on this route.
And Eric was right, this was a great adventure and it was just my family, another pair and Eric out there. No other people, we had this all to ourselves.
Eric was awesome, very personable, friendly, knowledgeable about Moab and its surrounding. Very conscious about limiting our footprint in the area.
Most of all, Eric kept us safe, especially during the rappel and made it fun.
We have a 10 yr old that was scared about the 90 ft rappel at the end but Eric helped him and instead of having him rappel, he lowered him down himself.
I would highly recommend Eric and Windgate Adventures if you are interested in an climbing/rappelling adventure. YOu can't go wrong with Eric.

Eric gets 6 out of 5 !
We have been on many tours of all sorts of outdoor experiences around the world, including others in Moab, and Eric @ Windgate beats them all.
We booked Eric 3 days in a row for an introduction to climbing, Ancient Art Tower climb and Land Before Time Canyoneering. All three days Eric demonstrated that he loves what he does and CARES. He cares about the area, has known it for 30+ years, cares about his customers, cares about safety, cares about Covid. He is fun, super knowledgeable, shares, talks, explains, inspires confidence and makes it personal. He adds many little touches to go the extra mile (and makes and shares really good pics - he also runs photography classes and tours). When we crossed other tours it seemed other guides looked up to him.
Windgate Adventures is a small outfit so it might be difficult to book in the busy season, but if you can you are nearly assured of going with Eric.
We do not have enough good things to say about Eric (and we are hard to please...) , we want to return with our children.
By now it's obvious we highly recommend going with Windgate Adventures.

My friend and I (mid-30s, relatively fit) booked a half-day rappelling trip about a week before visiting Moab. We are fit, but we're not adventurers. Eric did a great job of coaching us through what felt like a semi-terrifying adventure (we were prepared to rappel, but not necessarily to climb, jump over rocks, etc.). So, it was a spiritual adventure as well as a physical one. We had a great time and would recommend the adventure to anyone without a fear of heights :)

While on a week long vacation in Moab, I decided to get schooled in crack climbing and reached out to Eric. Given I was solo, without my usual climbing partner, Eric was able to create a customized itinerary which worked out great like a crack climbing clinic. We explored different areas and covered different styles of cracks from finger cracks, OWs to chimneys. We climbed for 3 full days and I got everything I wanted out of the tours.
On the final day of our vacation, I wanted to introduce my wife and cousin to canyoneering and Eric was able to accommodate us in a half day tour to Entrajo Canyon. This was a great Canyoneering 101 tour and we all loved it.
Eric is very experienced and super safe, I highly recommend Windgate Adventures for your rock climbing and canyoneering needs in Moab.

Cannot recommend this canyoneering tour enough! Eric is a one man show - he has been climbing for over 20 years and made us feel completely safe as we rappelled down 100+ foot rock faces for the very first time. Not only does he regale you with his many crazy climbing stories, he is also very knowledgeable about the foliage and the history of the area. Eric is clearly passionate about what he does and it was such a pleasure to have him as our guide. Prepare for amazing views, winding turns, and lots of photos! (Covid note - we felt completely safe in the great outdoors and all wore face masks whenever we were in close contact)

Climbing with Eric was the highlight of my week (maybe even year!) in Moab.
We climbed the iconic Ancient Art Tower in the Fisher Towers. Eric is an extremely personable, knowledgeable and friendly person who made me feel totally safe for our entire climb. He shared a ton of knowledge about Moab, the Fisher Towers, climbing, and anything else I had questions on. He is so familiar with the area, he will be able to make recommendations to make your trip perfect.
I would 100% recommend any tour with Windgate Adventures and for any rock climbers - definitely check out Ancient Art!

We had an amazing time canyoneering, the hiking was great, the climbing and squeezing through canyons was a bit of unexpected excitement and the rappelling was the best of all. A bit scary getting started but amazing once you get past the fear factor. Our guide Eric was perfect, he was able to talk us through the maneuvers needed to get through the canyons and made us feel 100% safe on all of our rappels.

I was on a solo trip passing through Moab. I wanted to try climbing there so I started calling around, I'm an experienced climber but I can't do it alone. It was a Friday hoping to go the next day (during covid) so I wasn't too optimistic. After agreeing to go canyoneering with one company he said I know you wan to actually climb, why dont you try my buddy Eric at Windgate. I left him a message and he got back to me in the evening. We met in a parking lot at 7am and caravan to the climbing spot. He inspected my climbing gear I had with me for safety then asked what kind of climbing I would like to do. He set up routes and stressed climbing safety as well as covid distancing/wearing masks when we were close. Eric is nice and made good conversation without the cheesy "you're paying me to be nice," feel. I would absolutely recommend him for solo travelers, families with kids who want a safe foundation to climbing for their little ones or any one just looking for a nice day on the rock. He sells tshirts too so make sure you grab a souvenir for your day and help a small business.

Exhilarating Amazing Beautiful are just a few words I can think of for this expedition. We had kids and adults on this trip and everyone came away feeling like “we conquered this one!”-most everyone’s first expedition like this, climbing a 60 ft boulder(?) and then rappelling an 80 ft Arch. Eric was amazing with everyone, including kids who asked for outs, and Eric giving them the confidence to get through the scary stuff. With 16 in our group we ended up belaying our last pass down in the dark- pretty crazy. Can’t wait to get back to Moab to try similar adventures!

Hi, my husband and I are planning a trip in early December but we are bringing our 3 month old. What activities besides hiking with a carrier can you recommend for us?

We will be in Moab in June, seriously considering doing the half day rock climbing or repelling. We have never done either. We are a family of 4, my husband is 51, I am 46, my daughter is 12 and son is 9. What would you recommend?

Hi We did a day and half photographic tour with Eric so I cannot answer your question from personal experience. I can say Eric talked a lot about climbing and seemed very knowledgeable and very conscious about safety. Overall all if I were 27 years younger and your age I would feel very safe with Eric.

Hello Vanessa, Yes I will be doing photo tours in the Moab area in September 2017. The National Park service has shut down the access to Arches National park for sunrise and sunset for the entire year, but we do have access to Canyonlands National Park at this time.
