My wife and I took two tours with the Institute, a morning tour viewing the petroglyphs of Canyonlands Park and an early evening tour of Arches National Park. Given that we are in our late 60's and hiking and climbing our not our regular activities, there was some concern as to the physical requirements of the tours. As it turned... More

What a fantastic trip. Eleven women ( 3 were guides) enjoyed 4 days on the Westwater River out of Grand Junction, CO. We had a couple of exciting thunderstorms, some calm water, some easy rapids and an absolutely thrilling ride the last day through numerous Class III and IV rapids. Way more fun than a roller coaster. We had plenty... More

We spent a week in June in the Moab area on our annual family reunion with our children, their spouses, and our grandchildren. The fist day was a raft trip on the Colorado River with the Canyonlands Field Institute. Two rafts held the 12 of us. Safety is stressed. The two guides were great, answering questions, telling us about the... More

My wife Sue and I went on the Bookcliffs Archeology and Historical Tour this October. It was the first tour of its kind and we enjoyed it immensely! We were able to view petroglyphs and pictographs on private land and in remote areas that we would never have seen ourselves. The tour included invaluable information from Dr. Carol Patterson, who... My husband and I just completed a two day tour with CFI. Our tour was in to Range Creek Canyon - a box canyon the state of Utah now owns. Range Creek is a box canyon with many untouched pictographs, petroglyphs, and corn granaries. The people here were from the Fremont Culture and what a beautiful area they lived in!... More

We have made several trips to the Moab area, and think it to be one of the most interesting and beautiful places in the U.S. This trip, as we were driving to Spanish Trail RV Park a few miles south of downtown, we saw Canyonlands Field Institute's (CFI) building, and decided to stop in to check out what they had... My recent trip down the Lower San Juan river with CFI Moab was terrific. Canyons were a myriad of colors and the rapids were great fun. Top notch guides who were great teachers as well. Hope to take some of my family on a CFI trip.

Recently took my second trip with CFI. My family (7 of us) spent 3 nights and 4 days on the river. The guides were truly top of the tier, this trip and the one I took 2 summers ago. Our trip was about seeing parts of nature that you don't usually get to see, quality family time, learning something new,... More

Very thorough detail and planning on the part of CFI in advance of our trip to Moab resulted in zero surprises or problems. Guides were very knowledgeable and kept my 12 year old son and I engaged the entire day. The only advance direction I was able to give Alison (CFI), who planned this for us, was to help me... More

Just recently went on the Mountain Wildflower day seminar. What a great experience. The instructors and staff are great and we received a lot of individualized attention and our questions were answered thoroughly. The instructors were well prepared and we saw some beautiful flowers that could be seen from the trail. Everyone was flexible so we were able to do... More
