Here you are along the Appalachian Trail, not only at the headquarters, but also both a great place to get information, buy some good refreshments to rehydrate and eat, and experience the camaraderie of other hikers, too! And the setting is both scenic and historic, with a historic Black college, now the National Park Service training center, PLUS Harpers Ferry... More

We had a wonderful visit at the Appalachian Trail Headquarters. The staff there are engaging and helpful in providing information and maps for hiking; we loved our hike on Maryland Heights. One of the staff had actually walked the entire trail and it was wonderful to hear about her experience. The items for purchase were very high quality - my... More

We stopped in at the headquarters before beginning a week of hiking the Appalachian Trail. This is a very nice center and the volunteer who spoke with us was incredibly friendly and welcoming!

My husband dreams of hiking the Appalachian Trail someday. We had a fun short hike from the national park to the ATC, passing by some church ruins and Jefferson's Rock. The ranger was very helpful.

This place had a few people working in it that spoke to us for over an hour on lots of different questions we had. Very easy going, at our own pace information area. Super helpful!!

Great resource for day hikers and through hikers alike. They sell a wide variety of maps including the excellent Potomac Appalachian Trail Club maps. They also have a "lounge" for through hikers.

We went to Harpers Ferry to see our son, who is a thru-hiker. We had not seen him for almost 3 months. The staff there was super nice. Everytime a thru hiker entered, the staff celebrated the accomplishment. Trail Magic and Support like this makes hiking the trail possible. The center itself provides a wealth of information along with services... More

We stopped here hoping to kick off a short hike on the trail w the kids - on what turned out to be a super rainy day. The kids worked on the junior ranger program and interviewed a hiker who had stopped in for the day for a break. The staff was amazing and the hikers were gracious enough to... More
