Loved this walking tour with Rick. He is a walking, talking, singing history book. Full of information about American History as well as Harpers Ferry and the surrounding areas. We thought a 4 hour tour was going to be too long but time flew by and we loved every minute. It was a good mix of walking, stopping and sitting... More

There's is so much more to Harpers Ferry and the surrounding area than John Brown's rebellion. Rick gives a fantastic and detailed explanation of the area's development....along with some musical embellishments. I felt sorry for the folks who seemed to only see the top tourist spots! All ages will enjoy spending time with Rick. Be sure to plan accordingly as... More

This was my first time going on a tour and it was awesome. Rick did a great job in keeping us entertained, while keeping us informed on what went on here.

This was an outstanding day in my latest US trip. As a teacher of nineteenth century US history at St Edmund's College, Ware in the UK, I am familiar with the name of Harper's Ferry. This trip was a surprise set up for me by my charming and generous hosts for the latter part of my stay. Mr Garland is... More

Rick entertained us with a wealth of information in an engaging manner through song and dialogue. His enthusiasm, great voice and knowledge are most impressive. Add his interesting stories and humor for the very best venue we saw.

When looking for things to do in Harpers Ferry we saw there was a ghost tour led by Rick Garland. We checked out his website and found that he also does historical tours of the town during the day and also a Songs and Stories concert in the afternoons. We decided we would like to do all three so made... More

Rick is terrific. He works inductively and deductively weaving the history of the area into the history of our country. His walk though Harper's Ferry includes insights into political, cultural, social, religious, geographic, and economic issues. Rick narrates the story through anecdote, humor (I laughed out loud several times!), a continuum of musical touch points (including Shenandoah and John Denver's... More

This walking tour of Harpers Ferry is very informative, interesting and fun. The guide, Rick Garland, dresses in historical garb, and communicates the fascinating history of Harpers Ferry with great stories and anecdotes, humor, even occasionally with songs of the time. This tour was a highlight of the visit my wife and I made to Harpers Ferry, and I recommend... More

We found Rick to be very knowledgeable of area history. This was three hours very well spent. If you go to Harpers Ferry and are interested in history this tour is a must.

As I return to Harpers Ferry often and with different people I seek different things to do while visiting the area. On this trip my associate and I decided to take the Ghost Tour despite the fact that we had taken it before. My previous experience occurred in October 1996; while my associate had enjoyed it sometime before or after... More
