A 3 hour cruise (didn't see the professor or Marianne) around some of the islands that make up the Apostle Islands National Park. The seats are very uncomfortable, especially if you're on the short side. The lighthouse on Raspberry Island is supposedly on the tour, but it was bypassed entirely. Would not recommend.

You don't see many rock formations in the water, all of the islands look the same as you motor on by. The sea caves are at the furthest end of the trip at Devils Island and there is a whole lot of nothing in between. Now the captain did his best with history lessons and some local lore but the... We took the Apostle Island grand tour with Captain Cal. He was quite well informed and informative. Best part of the cruise was seacaves. He did pretty good routine during cruise and visited and chatted with passengers. Only caution is - this is very weather dependent - you need relatively good weather to enjoy this. weather might also affect where... More

We originally made reservations for the glass bottom boat tour but the wind and waves were stronger than normal and was explained to us that the ship wrecks were not visible. So we basically did the grand tour which was still amazing. Got to see the sea caves at Devil's Island. We were not told this until on the boat... More

Get there early to get a seat on the upper (outside) deck or in my opinion, don't go at all. The tour was completely filled and we were crammed in like sardines on the lower (inside) deck. I couldn't wait for the three hour tour to be over. A woman next to me said that it would have been more... More

We originally planned on taking the Grand tour but do to timing we ended up taking the Lighthouse ride. If your into lighthouses this is a cool one. The ride was just over an hour on the way out. Try and get on the top desk so you can have a good view, only the first 24 people can go... More

I was glad we took the trip so we could see the islands, but I wouldn't need to do it twice. We took the glass bottom boat tour and we could see some shipwrecks which was interesting, and we got a close up to the sea caves, but the islands themselves all pretty much look alike.

3 1/2 hours is way too long! About 2O mins in to the tour I was sorry we went on the boat. All there was, was a bunch of trees and boring island views. The rocks were neat to see but I think I would be satisfied with the pictures in the pamphlet. We has two children with us which... More

The service offers a range of cruises to help one explore these beautiful islands, the most comprehensive being the Grand Tour 3 1/2 hours on the water. The comfortable boats wander through this island group with a great narrative explaining the history and geology of the area during the first 3/4s of the trip. There are no stops along the... More

The tour of the Apostle Islands with the Apostle Island Cruise Service was a great experience. I was impressed that they realized there were many people taking the cruise that day and made another boat available allowing more people to sit on top. Out captain was extremely knowledgeable about the boat, the area, the history, and the islands. His story... More
