This place is great. It's a museum that you can touch and interact with old antiques. Lots of neat stuff. If you read the displays and do everything offered, you could spend over an hour there. Great nativity city!

Whitehead Museum has an interesting hodgepodge of Native American artifacts, historical displays about the Del Rio area, and pioneer-era miscellanea. My family and I spent a few hours walking between the buildings and looking at the various exhibits. The sheer amount of stuff on display is impressive and some of it is displayed somewhat haphazardly, but it's fun to poke... More

There is a cost of $4-5 ea for this museum. It is a bit dated and a lot of stuff needs a dusting. It is unfortunately falling into a state of disrepair and neglect. There is some interesting stuff to see but nothing spectacular. A number of static displays of old farm equipment and fire trucks in various states of... More

Stopped in after going to the Val Verde winery. This is an interesting little museum about the history of Del Rio and the surrounding area presented in a series of displays that tell the stories of the area. There are some good and bad things here with the good outweighing the bad. This is well worth the time it takes... More

A good look at early days life. We were the only ones there, late in the day. Liked the man at the entry desk. He was helpful about what there was to see.

Excellent museum depicting the history of Del Rio and Val Verde County. The county has a fascinating history and is a great place to explore.

The Whitehead Museum has managed to pack the local history into one enjoyable, learning experience. This isn't your big city, well funded, fancy type of place, but for those who are open-minded, and curious to the struggles, and hardships of those before us, an afternoon here is worth it. My daughter, father, and I enjoyed the self paced tour, and... More

I enjoyed an early spring evening and authentic grilled steak pit dinner at the Whitehead Memorial. It's a neat, quirky museum and park in a residential neighborhood in Del Rio. Beautiful old trees, interesting cactus and local sculptures made for a unique and very comfortable setting for a large business cookout. The perimeter of the park is lined with outbuildings,... The Museum complex is really jam packed with building after building, its very eclectic. The building include fabrications of country store, post office, blacksmith, doctor's office, jail, nativity scene, museum, etc Plus you can have a wedding and reception in the center area. It was very interesting and fun; however very old and looks unkept in several areas. I wish... More
