About
For over 30 years our family has cultivated relationships with farmers and craftsmen in China and Taiwan to import the best tea and teaware we can find. Today, we carry on this legacy, seeking sustainable and artisanal products while striving to make traditional tea culture approachable to everyone. Red Blossom Tea Company is based out of our Grant Avenue shop in San Francisco's vibrant Chinatown community. We have a selection of nearly 100 teas, three tea demonstration tables, and an extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff to guide you. We offer complimentary tastings for quality verification (with the purchase of tea), as well as full tasting flights for a more in-depth experience. We invite you to come taste and learn with us.

If you are a tea addict, a tea newbie, or a tea scholar, this is definitely the place you want to be spending your time and money.

When you enter the shop you will be greeted by a simple and humble looking shop. On one side there is a wall of tea containers that contain a plethora of tea leaves where you can pop off the top to smell and gaze at the leaves. On the other side are all the fun and authentic tea accessories such as fascinating tea sets, tea trays, gaiwans, measuring tools, etc.

The employees also make the experience fun as they are very knowledgable and helpful when trying to find a tea. Even if you are new to tea and wish to pick it up as a hobby, the employees are very patient and extremely passionate about tea. My best friends is a tea fanatic, whereas I am just a light tea drinker, but every time we go to Red Blossom there is a little something that both of us can enjoy.

For those of you who are interested in trying out the tea leaves prior to buying them, they have two small tables set up where they will provide a proper tea tasting. Employees explain the process as they create the tea and will share with you proper heating temperatures and steeping time. Don't be afraid to ask questions either because they will always give you a very detailed answer.

They also have a website that contains all the teas that come in from China and Taiwan so you can also order it to have it shipped to your home. However, if you ever get the chance to go to Chinatown, you must stop by this tea shop and experience a little piece of tea heaven. Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the shop, it is full of quality items just waiting to be discovered. :)

I was recommended to go here by the concierge at the hotel. According to her this is the place where Chinese dignitaries go to replenish their tea supplies when away from home.

They have a great selection of different teas and the staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They give recommendation in how to brew the teas and describe the flavor profile, which makes a visit here very interesting.

If you can't make it here, you can still get some as they are the internet as well.

The Red Blossom Tea Company is a famous institution in San Francisco and there's a constant traffic in and out of the store. Some free tea samples are available, but all the tea blends sold there are very expensive for your occasional Earl Grey drinker.

I wanted to buy some tea while we were in Chinatown and we stopped into Red Blossom for a quick purchase. We were there over an hour! We asked a few questions about the teas and next thing we knew we were sitting down to a very informative and fun tea tasting. The lovely lady who sat with us was so friendly and informative. It was as much fun and just as instructive as any wine tasting in Napa Valley. We purchase several teas and had a fun afternoon as well.

I searched out Red Blossom Tea Company after reading an article about them in the Edible San Francisco food magazine. Turned out that they were located only about 5 blocks from my San Francisco friend's apartment. How lucky can you get? Red Blossom Tea will not disappoint you.

Red Blossom Tea Company is the real McCoy. The staff has several generations in the trade under their belt, and they source their teas directly from the producers and traditional, artisan tea processors. Their tea leaves are first quality and their prices are reflective of that fact. When you drink their teas, the flavour and craftsmanship of tea making are on display.

Many of the big box store tea companies merely buy from tea wholesalers. They add fruit oils or essences to the teas and then package it under their own names. The tea leaves and their quality are what get lost in the equation. You can hide a lot of mediocre tea under the added flavourings. It's the flavourings that predominate, not the tea.

So if you're really serious about developing a connoisseurship in tea, don't waste your time with the box store tea companies. Go straight to Red Blossom Tea Company. All of the staff are knowledgeable about their teas, and they can introduce you to some amazing cups of tea.

We stumbled into this place on an excursion of Chinatown. Delightful and elegant experience. They have an excellent selection of teas. The lady spent a lot of time explaining the different teas to us, and then put together a lovely tea tasting session for the type of tea we were interested in purchasing. We love teas, and really enjoyed learning how to brew it at the right temperature. It was also interesting to see them brew the teas in their specialty glass infusers (would love to get one!). They were patient and we lingered over a delightful tasting. The teas were not cheap, but very fresh and flavorful. This store provided us with a glimpse into the beautiful world of elegant tea rituals.
