The range of tours offered by Bay Voyager include viewing historic ships, visiting former mooring sites of abandoned gold rush ships, and experiencing active estuaries populated by cargo ships and tug boats. You’ll see the San Francisco waterfront, cruise under the Golden Gate Bridge, around Alcatraz, Under the Bay Bridge to the Port of Oakland, past AT&T Park (Home to the San Francisco Giants) and Back to Pier 39. While Bay Voyager does have specific routes, deviation is an integral part of the experience, making each adventure an engaging and exhilarating encounter.According to owner and captain, Charles Jennings, “we feel there is a need to provide more intimate and individualized tours that travel closer and give more in depth guided tours. By being in a small and agile vessel, guests can have an up close and personal adventure while traveling to all corners of the always-fascinating bay.” « less

Captain Charles did not stop talking from the time we got on the boat till after we got off...he knows all about the history and about the things that are worth seeing. Was a bit unsure when we saw the small boat but with only ten on board it was a great way to see the bay. Would not think... More

Captain Charles was a wonderful guide, telling about the history of the wharf area, bridges, islands etc. as we went from Pier 39, out the Golden Gate, around Alcatraz, under the Bay Bridge, into McCovy Cove, then back along the water front to Pier 39. There were many tales of war ships, world fairs, fire boats, baseball, earthquakes. I took... More

This Bay Voyager boat trip was arranged by a friend of ours. He did the research and we were happy to get on this smaller boat and take a tour on the bay under the Golden Gate and get close to the piers. We had a total of 8 in the boat. It was a fun way to get to... More

What a fun and exciting way to tour the bay. My 11 year old son thought it was awesome. Captain Charles is full of great information. So exciting and interesting. A Must if you're in the area.

The weather was great--sun, no fog, no wind and no waves. Also goes out under the Golden Gate Bridge for a great view of the open water. The Captain is a really nice guy with good stories and information. One caveat--his new booking site (which he does not own) automatically lists one child in the passenger selection. We ended up... We went out on the two hour tour and had a blast! Captain Jennings obviously loves what he does and his enthusiasm sets the tone of the trip. I loved the taste of the salt air, the feeling of the waves as we skimmed across them...we even went across the Bay and watched a huge ship leaving Oakland. I have... More

I have two favorite memories from my time on Bay Voyager. One was speeding to the Golden Gate Bridge, skipping across the waves, with my 11yo yelling, "It's better than a roller coaster!" The second was when my mom asked about a mark on the side of the Jeremiah O'Brian. Captain Charles is incredibly knowledgeable about maritime and local history.... More

We did not originally plan on doing this trip. Part of our group had reservations to tour Alcatraz and some of us were going to just kill time by shopping. We made the best decision to take this trip! BRING A CAMERA! We were able to have an unbelievable view of the city from the boat. They also took us... More

Charles, the captain, picked us up at Jack London Square in Oakland, shared interesting information about tug boats and container ships that were unloading in the estuary. Then we zipped across the Bay to the San Francisco waterfront where he continued to be a great tour guide. I liked the combination of fast, zippy rides and slower times when there... More

We chartered the boat for my mom's 60th birthday, and it was a total blast. Nearly everyone on the boat was a Bay Area native or longtime resident, but we learned a great deal about San Francisco history. Charles was very knowledgable about the area, and shared all kinds of interesting tidbits. The tour was well paced with a great... More
