This place is huge! It reminded me a lot of central park. We rented a boat and rode around stowe lake, that was very nice and peaceful. We went to the academy of arts and sciences as well. Its so large so we only saw a small portion, wished we had spent more time here.

Great for a picnic and getting away from all the rush. If you have a car, just driving through is a nice drive and if you have time check out the gardens and conservatory.

Apparently, the person who designed the Golden Gate Park is the same person who designed NYC's famous Central Park. There are definite similarities in the layout. But that's not what makes this little gem a place worth visiting - in fact, spend the whole day here. Bring a blanket, some food and a book and lay out and just enjoy... More

Take a bike at any shops near Russian hills and ride to Golden Gate Bridge! You will have a lot of fun and could see as lot as possible. If you will feel tired you can take a ferry. Note: this trip can be recommended for intermediate and advanced bikers.

Fortunately for those living in or visiting S.F., the founders had the foresight to carve out this magnificent park in the center of S.F. With gardens and trails and museums, this place is unsurpassed.

The park has so many facets; It has museums and the Japenese Gardens and bike paths and people to watch. It is a good place to b ring a picnic and relax. I think it is a place one goes back to if they come to San Francisco often as I do.
