Brilliantly laid out, this is a Park rather than a Garden. It is huge, and is not for "walking the Park"; its for visiting a spot or two (with the kids perhaps), and maybe having a picnic. There is a shuttle bus if you want to move around, but most SFcans seem to drive. From town, take a 22 bus.... More

There's a lot of different activity to do here. Allow time for a museum, Japanese tea garden, a scenic stroll. It's SFran smaller answer to Central Park. More

the park is big and beautiful for a walk, jogging or a lazy picknick. In the park there is a frisbee golf course that gives lots of fun. A lot of teams are strolling along and throwing disks to far away baskets. Skip FIshermans Warf an spent just a couple of hours in this big park during your visit of... More

I love Golden Gate park, not just for the museums there, but Stow lake and all the hidden little gems in the park. Great place to walk, bike and have a picnic. Rent a boat on the lake! Drink tea in the Japanese Tea Gardens. Walk through the gardens in spring...amazing flowers! And the tulips under the windmill, at the... More

We've been before and each time we visit we find new things to see. This time we visited the rhododendron walk and Shakespeare Garden and revisited the Japanese tea gardens which are well worth the entrance fee. A lot of things close at 5pm so don't make the mistake we did - go earlier in the day! More

If you miss this, you've missed much of what San Francisco has to offer. Lovely wandering, interesting museums, great view from the top of the DeYoung museum tower. Tea at the Tea Garden is inevitable and a little touristy but very nice. Don't try to rush it. Accessible by bus line from downtown, worth the effort. More

A very very nice park to begin with - not restricted but open with a few roads going through it and having a beach, windmills, its own gardens, landscapes, museums, bison herds, flora and fauna so near a bustling metropolis - all allowing you to spend quality time whenever you are here. More

Visit the De Young museum while here - for the 9th floor viewing platform if nothing else. It has a lovely cafe and the viewing platform is free, giving you unparralelled views of the city. More
