Kathy's tour of The Castro is hugely inspirational. Her knowledge of the area, history and close relationships with the locals are all second to none. We were even lucky enough to be introduced to Allan Baird. An incredible honour. If you're visiting San Francisco, whether you're gay, straight, bi, trans, all of the above, whatever, this tour is a must.... More

I highly recommend this tour with Kathy to have a first and intense experience of the Castro neighborhood. Kathy knows everything about the Castro history, people, places… She's such a sincere, positive, enthusiastic and sensitive person! Thanks for that moment! I learnt so much.

We enjoyed hearing about the history. Excellent guide! Went for about two hours at a nice sedate pace. Would definitely recommend to get one of the many perspectives of this city!

I read all of the reviews for this tour and it not only lived up to the rating but Kathy's delivery of the tour was thoughtful, sensitive and suitable for a diverse range of clients. I LOVED it! What to expect - history, architecture, geological insights, art and of course a greater understanding of the LGBT community and the politics... More

All of that with a story that everyone will remember and on top of that she showed me the school with the most important words signed on the wall. I'm glad to say that those words stayed with... I loved the tour, our group had sadly not that much time but even in that short amount of time Kathy answered a lot of our questions and showed us only places that we were really interested in! I noticed that Kathy really loves her Job and so it made the tour even more fun! Definitely would recommend this tour... More

We met up with our very enthusiastic tour guide at the flag pole. She was definitely someone who knows all about life in the Castro and told us lots of interesting facts. Keep in mind that the tour costs 30$ and takes about 2hrs.

Staying in The Castro

Neighborhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighborhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighborhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theaters and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
