Fort Funston is on the Pacific Ocean side, at the southern edge of San Francisco. It is very easily accessible, there are bus lines, and by car, you can reach it in record time, because of easy access from the highway. It is serene, with amazing cliff views, locals come here to walk their dogs and wing surf. There is... More

This is an excellent bike ride away from the South end of Golden Gate Park. The rid his mostly uphill, but not very steep (the return ride is really fun!). There are great views of the Pacific ocean and hang gliders hovering overhead. There's a trial that's about a quarter mile down to the beautiful beach, which doesn't seem to... More

Beautiful spot by the ocean favored by hang gliders. We had a lot of fun watching the hang gliders gliding above us, and coming in to land. This must be a great site for taking wedding pictures as we saw two parties there.

OH MY! Best time for my little doggie! A off leash heaven for my doggie and a haven for us handlers. My doggie loves this place with it's amazing smells and FREEDOM! The views are incredible and the patrons are lovely. The best place for my doggie and I!

Came here for a quick stop to see the hang gliders. Not many hang gliders, but lots of friendly dogs, families and stunning views. Make time for at least a quick stop here to gaze out over the ocean.

You can run your dog off leash on the sand dunes or down on the beach here. Views for the humans are great too. Water loving dogs will especially love Fort Funston. Bring towels. Watch out for rip tides.

While this beach is a bit of a hike to get to and it's probably not the right destination for the lesser-abled. If you have a dog and like "long walks on the beach" you must bring your pup here! It's the most dog friendly beach in the city. I'll see you there!

We had been at the beach before and really enjoyed the views from the bluffs and the walk on the beach. This time we were visiting and had our dog. I did not know what to expect since this was the first time that we have had Riley off-leash. It was a joyful experience enjoying the ocean and watching our... More
