Awesome day of climbing in Calistoga with Theo and Matt. They were knowledgeable, taught us safe technique, and gave us as much instruction and information as we wanted to learn. They were also really fun and went along with our antics. Beers and snacks in the parking lot were a bonus. I would definitely go on a trip with these... More

IDEAL FOR: Individuals who enjoy a physical and mental challenge and who won’t mind giving up a lot of comforts. NOT IDEAL FOR: Individuals who complain a lot and who are unwilling to sacrifice giving up comforts like bathing and toilets. This is my first backpacking excursion and I have to say, even though I was “roughing it,” I was... More

Trip: Yosemite backpacking, 3 days in May 2014 with Damon and John 5 stars because: the guides were super knowledgable, accommodating, positive and friendly. They made sure not only that each person had all the necessary gear, but that we were using the gear in the way to keep us most comfortable and safe on the trip. They knew their... More

Ok - I had not been on a Mountain Bike or bike in 18 years. I was nervous but the highly trained staffed paced each biker to their skill level and then some to build confidence. Before I knew it I was hoping on the wooden slides and completed a 2 hour single trek mouton bike ride that was amazing... More

Signed up for Beyond the Basics at China Camp. When we arrived we could tell the staff was excited to be there. Always a good sign! As we were practicing skills, our guides Tyler and Theo saw that perhaps it would just be more fun for us to get out and spend more time out on the trails. They read... More

Very good indeed. Skillful and friendly guides, excellent location, perfect weather, a nice group of fellow-participants, and great after-ride refreshments. The various drills (switchback turns and skinny riding) before we set out on the real single-track riding were very helpful.

We walked to this store because of its good reviews...it has a good variety for many sports, but the prices are the same as in the brand stores.

This weekend I participated in the Sports Basement Introduction to Mountain Biking trip at China Camp (http://www.sportsbasement.com/sb-outdoors/public-mtb-intro.php). I learned so much! Our guide Damon was extremely encouraging and supporting, super friendly and just made the day so much fun! We were lucky in a sense that there was just me and my (already experienced) boyfriend who signed up for the... More
