This was a great, small group, well planned tour, a wonderful way to see so many fantastic sights along the coast from San Fransisco to LA. Being in a small (and comfortable) vehicle had not only the advantage of easy access to small towns and more out of the way places, it also encouraged a good interaction between travellers. Kelly,... My husband and I were looking for a short tour down the Pacific Coast Highway in March, when I stumbled upon Explore California online. I was extremely impressed by my first interaction on the phone with Adam. He was thorough and prompt with answering all the questions I had while planning our trip, from the phone to email. For the... More

Our family of 4 adults took this tour last week. From the time we first enquires, Adam and Kelly answered all our questions and helped us sought out the best options for us. We have never taken a tour before, as we usually explore places on our own, so we were not sure what to expect. The tour was simply... More

I just completed the California Coastal tour with Adam as our guide. I had an excellent time and would absolutely recommend this trip. There were 6 people total on the trip (myself, my friend, and 2 lovely Australian couples.) You will cover a lot of ground and Adam was an extremely knowledgeable and accommodating guide. I would definitely take another... More

Kelly was a great tour guide with a fantastic knowledge of the area. She knew of great place to stop along the way from San Fran to LA. Artichoke bread Kelly spoke about from a little bakery in the middle of know where was sensational. Being in a small vehicle we could access areas big tour buses couldn't . Kelly... More

Myself and wife (we are from Canada) took the 3 day coastal trip from SF to LA with Kelly who was our guide and driver. She made our trip exciting and shared her vast knowledge of the coast and also had a good sense of humour. The trip was well planned and it is a great way to explore the... More

We booked a private day trip with Explore California to see the Monterey Bay Aquarium and neighboring attractions. Kelly at Explore California was great to work with in planning our day. Tony was our tour guide and driver and was very personable and accommodating. We spent about four hours at the aquarium in Monterey. After that we walked through the... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
