The stage is so close that you really feel connected to what's going on. Every song becomes more pleasant to the ear, every emotion becomes more amplified, and every scene becomes more electric. It's a great place to watch any production!

I really enjoyed Frisco Fred's combined comedy + magic show at the Alcove Theatre. The venue was cozy and informal --no one was seated more than 15 feet from stage -- making it ideally suited for audience participation. The show was clean and family friendly, but Fred's humor drew laughs from everyone -- parents, grad students, and two giggly 5-year... More

Hot off the train from Chicago we only had two days to get under the skin of this singular city. We stumbled across "Absolutely San Francisco" online and bought tickets whilst the stage was being set up for the evening performance. This is a hands on production and the performance matched our welcome from the company. The story is clever,... More

From the kind, very pleasant staff, to the fantastic story and wonderful plot focus, I have to say that this is the best play I've ever seen. Not only were the topics of interest to me, they were right in-line with my own, real-life issues. It is safe to say that I identified with this performance, and that is truly... More

I'm a 3rd generation San Franciscan and really enjoyed everything about this play and the playhouse. Wine, videos, very energetic performance, extremely well written, some very catching songs that we couldn't stop singing for the next few days. A wonderful atmosphere to see a play. Very friendly. She brings the entire audience together for an enjoyable 100 minutes or so.... More

Hi Michael D, Just thought we'd use your wonderful review as an opportunity to thank you and thank all the great people who have taken time out of their days to share their wonderful thoughts. Little theaters like ours really thrive on this electronic word-of-mouth, and it makes us very happy and proud to hear that our work has made... More

We had the delightful experience of seeing Karen Hirst in “Absolutely San Francisco” August 1, 2011. My wife and I and six others drove to San Francisco from Los Angeles to see the sights and take in a few plays. Karen was superb in the range if her voice and the depth of her portrayal of the many characters she... More

Being a relatively new resident of San Francisco, this show was not only highly entertaining, but educational as well. The references and humor are well crafted so that tourists and SF veterans can both have a good laugh. The Alcove theater is beautiful and intimate. Every seat has a good view. As soon as my parents come to town, I'm... More

This show displayed some comical, yet completely accurate depictions of the city that had a heavy dose of education mixed in. For those who live in San Francisco, the elements shown are more true than the commercial stereotypes. Defintely a good value for those who want to see the "real san francisco". This theater is independent and sometimes hard to... More
