SoSF is your #1 source for all things biking San Francisco. We know the city's best bike routes, especially the ones that go around the hills. We show you San Francisco's wild history and modern trends, including food, art, music, kooky local politics, and, of course, all things bicycles. Our guided bike tours focus on the city's neighborhoods and include: Unique history, diverse neighborhoods, Victorian architecture, public art, awesome bikes, & tasty local cuisine. Fun, friendly, local guides lead you through safe, bike-friendly routes that go around those infamous hills. Discounts for students, teachers, and military. We offer 3 guided tours in spring and 4 in summer: Heart of the City: 3-3.5 Hrs, $65/person, about 9 miles: Explore the city's interior neighborhoods including the Mission, Haight-Ashbury, and Civic Center. The Classic: 4.5-5 Hrs, $89/person, about 12 miles: Everything the Heart of the City has plus the Castro, SoMa, some additional stops, and a lunch break to taste delicious local cuisine. 7X7: 5.5-6 Hrs, $99/person, 17-18 miles with a stop for lunch. This tour is our epic day out on the bikes circumnavigating the city! The Bay Roller: (Summer only) 4.5-5 Hrs, $89/person explores the culture and history of San Francisco's northeastern neighborhoods and famous waterfront landscapes.

I signed up for a weekend tour on a whim while in the area on business and had a good time. The tour hits some of the major attractions and areas around downtown SF at an easy pace with lots of stops (lunch, farmer's market, different neighborhoods, marine district, etc.). I have done a number of bike tours and believe... More

My husband and I took the 5 hour " classic " tour of San Fransisco with Earle as our guide. It was fabulous and the best way to see the city and its neighbourhoods. It was a pretty easy ride with bikes both comfortable and in excellent condition. ( I am in my late 50's and my husband over 60)... More

As an experienced bike tour participant my expectations were high but SoSF stepped up to the mark and exceeded them in every way. We chose the 'Heart of the City' tour in which we covered several districts, learnt about the history of SF and its people, viewed spectacular street art, got some hot tips on the best places to eat,... We stayed 2 days in SF. And the first morning we took the 3.5hours tour. Billy, our guide was very knowledgeable and very helpful. He told us very interesting stories about the city and the neighborhoods we visited. He also provided with very detailed tips for lunch and dinner in the City. This tour will give an overall view of... More

We had a fantastic morning cycling round the city, with excellent information about San Francisco and a positive attitude to seeing it by bike this was a fantastic bike tour. Would recommend viewing the city with people who are really interested in the history and culture, this tour is perfect for that.

The tour was GREAT, and then I rented a bike for 1/2 off as a tour participant for the rest of my trip! Our guide Josh led a wonderful tour--and he had some very good comments on what was happening in the neighborhoods we rode through. The tour also made me (a woman travelling solo for this trip, age 61)... More

We loved our tour of all of the neighborhoods in San Fran. We skipped the typical tourist spots and had an authentic experience visiting over 11 neighborhoods and learing about the unique history and culture of each. Josh was the perfect tour guide as a very proud local! He was full of recommendations. Love that the bike shop is right... More

Had an awesome experience with both Josh (guide) and Daniel (rentals, etc.). After the tour was over, they even give great recommendations for food and nightlife specific to your preferences if you take the effort to ask. If you don't know, they'll still give you a general list by neighborhood. Half off bike rentals and discounts on shirts after you... More

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
