Description: The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and...
The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking with public transit for the most authentic visitor experience in San Francisco. Part urban adventure, part urban trek, and totally green, The Real SF Tours take you where no other tours can go. You’ll visit enchanted gardens, secret stairways, glorious rooftop views, and some of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods. You’ll be avoiding large crowds of tourists while experiencing the real culture of San Francisco and learning about its rich and storied history. You’ll traverse the city on Cable Cars, Light Rail, and City Buses. You must be able to walk 4 separate uphill 1.5 block sections, there are a total of 6 uphill flights of stairs, and 15 downhill flights of stairs, spread throughout the day. The day encompasses over 5 miles of walking including short uphill sections and hidden stairways that most people find extremely enjoyable. If you do not walk regularly this tour may be more challenging than enjoyable. If you have any difficulty going up and downstairs we do not recommend this tour. Please only wear comfortable closed toe walking shoes. Tours run daily departing from the California St Cable Car turnaround.

From the point we met Kevin and Chris at the Cable Car turnaround until we said goodbye hours later in the lobby of the Palace Hotel this was an immersive and compelling experience. We were shown both the common and the uncommon parts of San Francisco. Great architecture, public buildings, private homes, the views and the small neighborhoods that we... More

I kept looking at my watch during this tour -- because I didn't want it to end.  Chris, our tour guide, is knowledgable and passionate about this magnificent city. We walked through many neighborhoods, jumped on the cable car, local buses, subways, and weaved through tucked-away alleys and staircases. This tour was the perfect combination of popular tourist sites and... More

Got a really great feel for the city, so diverse. Could wander around for weeks and never stumble upon the hidden gems of the city we were shown. Great views, great exercise. Highly recommended. Very affordable, included a pass for all the public transit fares. Lots of short trips via cable car, bus, rail...

Just got through with our tour, March 20th, 2012. Chris, our guide was great. His tour was wonderfully researched and took advantage of the great transit system. It was the perfect mix of walking and transit, and not beIng tied down to a vehicle really allowed us to move quickly over a lot of ground. Would recommend to anyone who... More

This tour was like having a close friend show you all the cool sights and hidden gems. Chris was an excellent guide who was knowledgable and fun. I really enjoyed the mix of walking and transit which allowed you to cover lots of the city. Do this your first day in SF as you will be able to decide where... More

Despite it being a rainy day, my family and I had a GREAT time and LOVED the Real San Francisco tour. My husband and I had been to SF previously, but it was our son's first trip. We saw more sights and neighborhoods than I can recount, and even got a lesson in using the city's excellent MUNI transportation system.... More

What a great way to see San Francisco. After reading reviews on this tour and having had family participate just a week before me... I decided this was the perfect tour for me. My travel syle is particularly suited to this type of tour as I like to mingle with, and see how the locals live. Sean is a wonderful... More

My wife had been to San Francisco before and did the Dylan tour whilst I was on my first trip to both the U.S and San Francisco. We seem to bring good weather with us when we travel and this was no exception. Beautiful spring day to experience the city sights. We loved the walking/bus combo as we got a... More

We joined Sean with the Real SF Tour on Saturday 2/18. We had a great time and enjoyed our very full day of walking and sightseeing. The tour was well coordinated with Muni bus, cable car and BART transit to allow us to cover a lot of ground in the 7.5 hour day. Our favorites were many, but a highlight... More

I just got back from taking this tour today, and had to write a review. It was an awesome day! Chris and his trainee did a wonderful job of showing us a wide`array of SF sights and neighborhoods. I'd already taken a couple of other walking tours this week in SF, but after 10 minutes with Chris I felt I... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
