The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking with public transit for the most authentic visitor experience in San Francisco. Part urban adventure, part urban trek, and totally green, The Real SF Tours take you where no other tours can go. You’ll visit enchanted gardens, secret stairways, glorious rooftop views, and some of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods. You’ll be avoiding large crowds of tourists while experiencing the real culture of San Francisco and learning about its rich and storied history. You’ll traverse the city on Cable Cars, Light Rail, and City Buses. You must be able to walk 4 separate uphill 1.5 block sections, there are a total of 6 uphill flights of stairs, and 15 downhill flights of stairs, spread throughout the day. The day encompasses over 5 miles of walking including short uphill sections and hidden stairways that most people find extremely enjoyable. If you do not walk regularly this tour may be more challenging than enjoyable. If you have any difficulty going up and downstairs we do not recommend this tour. Please only wear comfortable closed toe walking shoes. Tours run daily departing from the California St Cable Car turnaround.

It was such a delightful tour I have ever done. Tour guide, Sean was very nice, informative and kind. I thought this tour was so much more you get from what you pay, it's more than just worth a penny! I really want to thank to Sean for everything he showed and told us. The best way to see and... This was a fantastic personalised tour in a small group of only 12 people with our own very well informed tour Guide, Sean. We started at 9:30am and went through till 5:00pm taking all forms of public transport and walking about 9klms overall. What a delight, this was the best city tour we have done.

I cannot say enough good things about this tour. I was fortunate enough to be guided by Chris, who founded the company, and I could not have asked for a better tour guide. His knowledge and love for the city of San Francisco shows so easily once he begins to talk. I loved the fact that the tour took you... More

You'll get your money's worth and more on this excellent tour of SF. You get such a first-hand, tactile feel of the rich diversity and the unique character of each neighborhood...no hop-on/hop-off bus - or any bus tour for that matter - can ever match it. As other reviewers mentioned, this is definitely a full day of walking (with breaks... More

My husband took this tour with Sean. We walked, rode every type of transportation and saw all of the city. Every region is beautiful, clean and full of culture. Without Sean to guide us we could never have seen as much, learned as much or had as much fun. This is a must for those who want to know their way... More

What a great way to see the city. I suggest doing this as one of your first activities in the city as they take you into all the different sections of San Fran. It is a full day walking tour with many uphills. On this tour, you get to ride all the various modes of transportation in the city- including... More

We had a 5 day vacation in SF which included walking the Golden Gate, Fisherman's Wharf, boat ride in the bay, Alcatraz, Cable Cars, Coit Tower/Filbert Steps, and Segways. But upon returning home, when people asked what did we like BEST, both my wife and I said the REAL S.F. TOUR. It really gives you a sense of the city... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
