Description: The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and...
The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking with public transit for the most authentic visitor experience in San Francisco. Part urban adventure, part urban trek, and totally green, The Real SF Tours take you where no other tours can go. You’ll visit enchanted gardens, secret stairways, glorious rooftop views, and some of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods. You’ll be avoiding large crowds of tourists while experiencing the real culture of San Francisco and learning about its rich and storied history. You’ll traverse the city on Cable Cars, Light Rail, and City Buses. You must be able to walk 4 separate uphill 1.5 block sections, there are a total of 6 uphill flights of stairs, and 15 downhill flights of stairs, spread throughout the day. The day encompasses over 5 miles of walking including short uphill sections and hidden stairways that most people find extremely enjoyable. If you do not walk regularly this tour may be more challenging than enjoyable. If you have any difficulty going up and downstairs we do not recommend this tour. Please only wear comfortable closed toe walking shoes. Tours run daily departing from the California St Cable Car turnaround.

Our family absolutely loved this tour! Chris is a wealth of knowledge about the city history and cultural events. We loved the fact we were getting around the city using the public transportation. Chris' suggestion for lunch was awesome! We had the most delicious meal. We have told everyone about this tour. Thanks so much Chris!

I loved this tour. No riding around in a chartered bus - we were walking and riding public transportation like the locals. Eli,our guide was awesome! Amazing how he can remember all those facts for that many hours. Do this tour. You will love it!

Have just returned after doing this fantastic walking tour with Eli as our guide. He has a great way of communicating his knowledge and history of San Francisco. We walked over 16,000 steps and the day lasted 7 hrs. You need a reasonable amount of fitness, but I managed to do this only 6 months post a hip replacement. I... More

This tour was fantastic! You ride all public transportation, so you get a true experience of what it's like living in San Francisco. There is so much to see and learn about and the tour guides know it all! It is a long tour, but it is totally worth it if you are not familiar with the city.

Chris shared the love of his city and all its neighbourhoods with our intimate group of five. We were treated to history, scenery, architecture, biography, foodie delights and the arts that have created such unique and diverse communities. His passion and enthusiasm infected us all and it was fun watching Chris interact with folks in the community and on the... More

I am rarely, if ever, feel compelled to write review on here. But for these guys I am making an exception. I had come to San Francisco with my teenage daughter (17) for a Dad and Daughter road trip following a conference in San Diego. I generally like to do a bus tour of a new city as I have... More

The tour was suggested by the concierge at my hotel in San Francisco. This was my first time visiting San Francisco. This is an all day walking tour of the city. It began just outside my hotel at 9;30 am and ended around 5 pm. The groups are small and the tour guide was amazing!!! He knew all the history... More

I booked the Real SF Signature Tour, a seven hour mostly walking tour of many neighborhoods in San Francisco. Starting near the Ferry Building we not only walked but used various public transportation systems including trolleys, buses, BART, and cable cars. The tour started at 9:30 am and ended at 4:30 pm. Our guide, Eli, was especially competent, friendly and... More

We absolutely loved this tour. It was great - really fun, behind the scenes, and showed off such a great side of SF. Our only complaint was to us - for not booking it earlier in our trip, so we could see it all earlier! Highly recommended!

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
