Description: The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and...
The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking with public transit for the most authentic visitor experience in San Francisco. Part urban adventure, part urban trek, and totally green, The Real SF Tours take you where no other tours can go. You’ll visit enchanted gardens, secret stairways, glorious rooftop views, and some of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods. You’ll be avoiding large crowds of tourists while experiencing the real culture of San Francisco and learning about its rich and storied history. You’ll traverse the city on Cable Cars, Light Rail, and City Buses. You must be able to walk 4 separate uphill 1.5 block sections, there are a total of 6 uphill flights of stairs, and 15 downhill flights of stairs, spread throughout the day. The day encompasses over 5 miles of walking including short uphill sections and hidden stairways that most people find extremely enjoyable. If you do not walk regularly this tour may be more challenging than enjoyable. If you have any difficulty going up and downstairs we do not recommend this tour. Please only wear comfortable closed toe walking shoes. Tours run daily departing from the California St Cable Car turnaround.

We took the Real SF Tour on our first day in San Francisco. The tour uses public transport to take a small group with a San Franciscan local guide around the city. The tour gives a real insight into the different districts and diverse communities in SF and we visited fascinating parts and places that we would never have found... More

You will see San Francisco by walking, cable car, bus, the muni. Be prepared for extensive walking, but you will see areas of the city you would not think of visiting. Our guide was very versed in the city's history and cultural heritage. The tour covers practically every cultural area of the city. Our tour was about 8 hours and... More

My husband, our teens (16 & 19) and I thoroughly enjoyed our full day of touring and learning about the city by cable car, foot, bus and train! We saw so many great corners of SF we would never have seen on our own.

Our tour guide was Dana, who was very informative and easily understood. She grew up there and had a wealth of knowledge of the city. We never felt rushed, and we got to see more than we ever dreamed we would be able to see in the few short days we were there.I highly recommend this great way to see... More

What a great day, hit all the hot spots of the city in one tour. Eli our guide was very knowledgeable about the city's history & architecture & looked after our group very well without babying us too much. Met some great people in our small group. Really enjoyed walking around, but it wasn't overly strenuous. Highly recommended. :)

My two teens (15 &17), wife and I spent Friday with Dana who lead our tour. She was very informative and had a great speaking voice, a must for a first class tour guide. We went on this tour on my second short weekend trip to San Francisco. I already loved the city but I knew nothing about it. Our guide Katya was amazing. Interesting, informative, helpful and patient! I loved learning about the different areas of the city and their history. Also, by walking and using so many forms of public transportation, my... Our family absolutely loved this tour! Chris is a wealth of knowledge about the city history and cultural events. We loved the fact we were getting around the city using the public transportation. Chris' suggestion for lunch was awesome! We had the most delicious meal. We have told everyone about this tour. Thanks so much Chris!

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
