Description: The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and...
The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking with public transit for the most authentic visitor experience in San Francisco. Part urban adventure, part urban trek, and totally green, The Real SF Tours take you where no other tours can go. You’ll visit enchanted gardens, secret stairways, glorious rooftop views, and some of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods. You’ll be avoiding large crowds of tourists while experiencing the real culture of San Francisco and learning about its rich and storied history. You’ll traverse the city on Cable Cars, Light Rail, and City Buses. You must be able to walk 4 separate uphill 1.5 block sections, there are a total of 6 uphill flights of stairs, and 15 downhill flights of stairs, spread throughout the day. The day encompasses over 5 miles of walking including short uphill sections and hidden stairways that most people find extremely enjoyable. If you do not walk regularly this tour may be more challenging than enjoyable. If you have any difficulty going up and downstairs we do not recommend this tour. Please only wear comfortable closed toe walking shoes. Tours run daily departing from the California St Cable Car turnaround.

Out guide Katia was excellent. She took us walking and riding over the hills of SF and we hardly knew we were going up hills. Her trip was well planned and we experienced much of the beauty of SF. She gave directions on how to get back to locations from our hotels and offered restaurant suggestions. The tour started at... More

This tour is one of the best walking tours of the many walking tours we have done around the world. The website is very good and makes booking the tour easy. Acknowledgement of the booking is followed by instructions on where to meet and how to get there. The tour covers a wide cross section of SF and involves about... More

Chris was great! He met all of our expectations and more. He oriented us to the SF public transit system and by the end we were very comfortable with riding it ourselves. He also told us things that you wouldn't find in a book. You could really tell that he loves this city and is very knowledgable about its history.... More

We were in San Francisco on a girls getaway and we decided to do this tour on our last day to make sure we saw as much of the city as possible. We were not disappointed! Eli was our tour guide and he did an amazing job. He was very knowledgable about the city and all of the sights, and... More

We had just a day to take in San Francisco and this tour was the perfect fit. We covered a lot of ground, walking and taking the various types of public transportation throughout the city. Chris, the owner, was our guide and took us to places we would have never known about or gone to had we been on our... More

Dana met us just as described on the website and we took off. We walked all day stopping for lunch. We saw things we would never see and learned so so much about the city. We also got to ride on the underground system, cable cars and more. It was so fun! Totally exhausted at end of day but so... More

So we landed in SF from the UK yesterday and we were still pretty tired from the flight so the idea of a hike around the city had lost its allure when we walked to the meeting place in the rain! However, Sean, our guide, made the tour such an enjoyable experience, we can't praise him enough! He tailored the... More

My son and I had such a good experience 3 years ago, I decided to return with my wife this time. The tour is a little different now and had less walking than before, but it seems even better planned out. It starts at 9:30 and ends at 5 pm and involves over 5 miles of walking. There were a... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
