The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking...

The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking with public transit for the most authentic visitor experience in San Francisco. Part urban adventure, part urban trek, and totally green, The Real SF Tours take you where no other tours can go. You’ll visit enchanted gardens, secret stairways, glorious rooftop views, and some of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods. You’ll be avoiding large crowds of tourists while experiencing the real culture of San Francisco and learning about its rich and storied history. You’ll traverse the city on Cable Cars, Light Rail, and City Buses. You must be able to walk 4 separate uphill 1.5 block sections, there are a total of 6 uphill flights of stairs, and 15 downhill flights of stairs, spread throughout the day. The day encompasses over 5 miles of walking including short uphill sections and hidden stairways that most people find extremely enjoyable. If you do not walk regularly this tour may be more challenging than enjoyable. If you have any difficulty going up and downstairs we do not recommend this tour. Please only wear comfortable closed toe walking shoes. Tours run daily departing from the California St Cable Car turnaround.

We had a wonderful time with Chris. He is very passionate about SF and has great stories & opinions about SF's culture and communities. Initially I was afraid if my Mom will be able to walk 6+ miles but he was very understanding and offered us full refund if she is not willing to walk. He was also very understanding... More

On a drizzly day we had the effervescent Robyn guiding us through the streets (and public transport) of SF. Always engaging and with lots of interesting information this was a fantastic introduction to the city. She shared many insights about the city and took us to places that we would never have been able to find on our own. She... More

I had a wonderful time on the tour. It was informative and we got to see some wonderful views of San Francisco and its many neighborhoods. Be prepared to do a lot of walking, I think my phone said we did around 8 miles of walking all together. I would highly recommend this tour and our friendly, knowledgeable guide Shawn!

We had Chris as our tour guide. He is the owner of this company. We traveled using many moods of transport and learned a lot. We saw so many different districts on this tour, which we wouldn't have been able to do on our own.

We had Shawn as our tour guide who was great! Very informational and answered any questions we had. The tour itself took us to many places we otherwise wouldn't have seen! Shawn had great historical knowledge of San Francisco which made us feel like we could better connect and understand the city. There was great recommendations for food and activities... More

I don't really take tours when traveling but a friend suggested doing a bus tour in SF to get an idea of which spots wed like to spend time in. When researching these I found the Real SF tour, and it sounded so cool. All I can say is it was way better than expected. We walked a lot mostly... More

This tour was a last minute suggestion and couldn't have been better, was interesting, touched on the history of different areas. Good for history buffs, fans of architecture. Packs a lot into several hours.

I thought this tour was so much more you get from what you pay, it's more than just worth a penny! I really want to thank to Sean for everything he showed and told us. The best way to see and... Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
