Description: The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and...
The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking with public transit for the most authentic visitor experience in San Francisco. Part urban adventure, part urban trek, and totally green, The Real SF Tours take you where no other tours can go. You’ll visit enchanted gardens, secret stairways, glorious rooftop views, and some of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods. You’ll be avoiding large crowds of tourists while experiencing the real culture of San Francisco and learning about its rich and storied history. You’ll traverse the city on Cable Cars, Light Rail, and City Buses. You must be able to walk 4 separate uphill 1.5 block sections, there are a total of 6 uphill flights of stairs, and 15 downhill flights of stairs, spread throughout the day. The day encompasses over 5 miles of walking including short uphill sections and hidden stairways that most people find extremely enjoyable. If you do not walk regularly this tour may be more challenging than enjoyable. If you have any difficulty going up and downstairs we do not recommend this tour. Please only wear comfortable closed toe walking shoes. Tours run daily departing from the California St Cable Car turnaround.

My husband and I took the tour on August 21. We were in San Francisco for 3 days, this was a great way to see all areas of the city. The tour takes you through numerous San Francisco neighborhoods. It’s an all-day hike by foot, with periodic hops onto public transit, and includes a stop for a snack and lunch.... More

If you only have 2-3 days in San Francisco I highly recommend this tour. It gave us a great overview of the city. Our tour guide Sean was great. He was knowledgeable about the city's history and about good and reasonably priced restaurants. For $65 per person this tour was a bargain and it included your public transportation during the... My husband and I took a 6 hour tour last week. It was our first visit to San Fran and we wanted to see the places the locals go to as well as some touristy sites. Chris was our guide for the day and, as luck would have it, we were the only two people on the tour. So essentially... More

We took th tour in early July and can not praise Chris and his team enough. Initially we had to change our tour dates at short notice. Chris got back to us promptly and accommodated our needs. The tour itself Is simply amazing, completely different to all others. It was like seeing SF 'behind the scenes'. The use of public... More

Dana was our tour guide. She is a multi-generational San Francisco resident. She knows SO much history and can answer every question you ask. This was the highlight of our 5 day visit. Don't be afraid of walking while you tour the sites of San Francisco. You will take the cable car, MUNI, and BART. She will explain how to... More

My friend and I were first time visitor's to the city so we wanted to get a feel of the area on our first day. We opted for this tour because it had great reviews, consisted of a smaller group of people, and included the utilization of the public transportation systems (which we knew we would be relying on during... Tour left right on time. Organized, Our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge and touring information. It was a good tour to see a lot in a short time. I was concerned about being able to walk that much. But it was broken up and not strenuous for me. I did finally learn that the buses lower the front... More

My Wife and I did the Real SF Tour on our first full day in San Francisco. After much research, I decided on this tour (and its itinerary) because it checked the most boxes for us - we got to see a number of different neighborhoods and experience San Francisco at street-level (as opposed to being cooped up in a... Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
