Part urban adventure, part urban trek, and totally green, The Real SF Tours take you where no other tours can go. You’ll visit enchanted gardens, secret stairways, glorious rooftop views, and some of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods. You’ll be avoiding large crowds of tourists while experiencing the real culture of San Francisco and learning about its rich and storied history. You’ll traverse the city on Cable Cars, Light Rail, and City Buses. You must be able to walk 4 separate uphill 1.5 block sections, there are a total of 6 uphill flights of stairs, and 15 downhill flights of stairs, spread throughout the day. The day encompasses over 5 miles of walking including short uphill sections and hidden stairways that most people find extremely enjoyable. If you do not walk regularly this tour may be more challenging than enjoyable. If you have any difficulty going up and downstairs we do not recommend this tour. Please only wear comfortable closed toe walking shoes. Tours run daily departing from the California St Cable Car turnaround. « less

This was a great tour (that I just took yesterday)! The website gives you all the information that you need. Wear good walking shoes, be prepared for varying weather (we had a beautiful day - 72 degrees and not a cloud in the sky - but it still got chilly when we were walking in the shade and the wind... I highly recommend this tour, particularly if you are interested in experiencing the city and not just visiting the tourist spots or seeing the sights from the top of a bus. Our guide was Katya - she was friendly and informative. Be ready to walk a lot. My family of five (three kids 11-16) was tired at the end of... More

Don't miss this tour if you want to really see how locals live in San Francisco. The use of Cable Cars, Buses, Bart and Muni make the experience feel like you live here. Sean Murphy was our guide, young man making his way through life and very tuned in to the city. This would be a perfect way to start... More

Excellent tour, excellent tour guide, thanks to Sean for the for being a great guide, he was very knowledgeable and very personable, was even prepared for rain with extra umbrellas and ponchos! This a great way to see San Francisco from the locals perspective.

Our guide was chris. Very friendly and helpful. Had alot of insight on san francisco. Went to places with amazing view. Halfway through, the weather got bad. And we stopped the tour halfway and chris refunded our money partially. Would recommend to friends and family

The best way to know a city is to travel like a city commoner using the city transit system. We exactly did that starting with the famous cable car, bus, Muni and BART browsing through the major points of attractions. We walked the rest of the route taking time listening to the historical facts and incidents narrated by our two... More

Shawn gave us and another couple a great intimate tour. He is very knowledgeable and has a passion for the city he lives in. If you're shawn's boss and you reading this right now, he deserves a nice big fat raise for the work he is doing. After this tour i felt like a local. What a great tour! Note:... More

We brought my family from out of town and my sister, who has live in the Bay Area for the last 40 years. We were all impressed with the depth or extent of this tour. Our guide, Sean, was knowledgeable about so many facets of SF, the history of the city, the art and architecture, the nightlife, and the restaurants.... More

Sean was the tour guide for our small party of three. We spent seven hours walking and using different transport options but the day was easy and not tiring at all. I'd certainly recommend this as the best way to see San Francisco in a day. If you are fortunate enough to have Sean as your tour guide that will... More

Did this tour with Sean an amusing and knowledgeable guide. There were 6 people on tour in total which was a great size as it was easy to hear Sean's commentary and my fellow tourers were also interesting coming from Austin, Canada and Portland. We rode the cable cars, buses, trains and BART and walked many kilometres. We caught the... More
