Description: The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and...
The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking with public transit for the most authentic visitor experience in San Francisco. Part urban adventure, part urban trek, and totally green, The Real SF Tours take you where no other tours can go. You’ll visit enchanted gardens, secret stairways, glorious rooftop views, and some of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods. You’ll be avoiding large crowds of tourists while experiencing the real culture of San Francisco and learning about its rich and storied history. You’ll traverse the city on Cable Cars, Light Rail, and City Buses. You must be able to walk 4 separate uphill 1.5 block sections, there are a total of 6 uphill flights of stairs, and 15 downhill flights of stairs, spread throughout the day. The day encompasses over 5 miles of walking including short uphill sections and hidden stairways that most people find extremely enjoyable. If you do not walk regularly this tour may be more challenging than enjoyable. If you have any difficulty going up and downstairs we do not recommend this tour. Please only wear comfortable closed toe walking shoes. Tours run daily departing from the California St Cable Car turnaround.

I thoroughly recommend the 'original' real SF whole day walking tour. We did it in a group of six, age range from twenty to sixty. My son and I were pleased to discover, as we had hoped, that we would indeed see the city as the locals see it - and with a group of folk from UK and Canada... More

My girlfriend and I spent four days in San Francisco last week (of July '15) and to start out the visit we thought that a comprehensive tour of the city would make the most sense. From there we could expand on our own certain sections we felt most drawn to. Unfortunately we could have used a couple/few more days, but... More

I lived in the bay area for a few years, but never went on a tour of San Francisco until a vacation trip this year. This tour was excellent and lasted all day. We walked quite a bit, but also took Muni, Bart, the historic cable car, and buses. Our tour guide, Robin was excellent and fun. The tour takes... More

The real SF tour was an awesome experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide with Chris. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about a variety of topics on San Francisco and it’s history, but he is was also extremely funny and entertaining as well. I definitely felt that we got more than our money’s worth and his... More

Our tour guide was really friendly and gave us a great insight into different neighbourhoods, places and modes of transport that we would not have otherwise explored. The walk was quite far but was the best way to explore San Francisco and was definitely worth it. Our great tour guide Sean showed us great restaurants and little coffee shops as... More

We would normally take a bus tour when visiting a city for the first time but saw the Trip Advisor reviews on this walking tour and decided to try it, we were not disappointed. The booking and meeting information were spot on. Katya was a great guide, very informative, knowledgeable and considerate, suggesting good places to eat and ensuring at... More

We went on tour with Chris on Monday and this was by far the very best tour we have been on!! Chris is super knowledgable and just generally a great guy. Awesome recommendation for lunch at blue barn which we shared stories with each other. The morning was energetic with a lot of walking by at a gentle pace. The... More

My wife and I (late 50's) returned 24 years after our honeymoon with our 18 year old daughter. We spent our first full day in the area on the tour which served as an excellent overview and orientation to the city - including neighborhoods and landmarks - with highlights and recommendations that only a local like our delightful and knowledgable... What a great way to see the City. You will definitely get a flavor for the 'Real' San Francisco and see neighborhoods you'd probably miss if you were on your own. Sean does a nice tour -- thanks!

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
