We hired a tandem to ride over the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a glorious day and a memorable experience. We rode to Sausalito and then took the ferry back to San Francisco. Dieter at Bay City Bikes gave us good directions and good advice. Something to watch out for though is that the bike path is poorly and confusingly... More

Location is right by the Market/Wafer trolley station. Dietter was extremely helpful and the bikes we got were excellent. I would recommend booking online because you save a good chunk of money. Also, if you rent the bikes its not a bad trip across the Golden Gate to Sausalito (8miles).

Went on a morning that it was meant to rain but luckily the weather held out. I was running late too so phoned ahead and the group patiently waited for me. Fortunately it was only me and one other lady so we managed to see more than if we were in a bigger group. Mike - our tour guide -... More

As being Dutch, for us a bicycle tour is nothing special. But it when Robbert guides you trough San Francisco and over the Golden Gate! Very interesting stories and background, amazing views, culture and nature and a lot of laughs. It was really great. Go back with the boat, sit and relax and enjoy the view again. Super!

Service was good and quick. Rentin the bike was expensive, considering it was off season (34 USD + insurance)

My wife and I hired a push bike to ride from Fishermans Wharf to Sausalito, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. It is a fun ride, a few hills but a mostly easy ride. We than caught the ferry back. There is plenty of places to stop for pictures and views. I would recommend this ride to anyone. The bikes that... More

We met three different people at the desk, first one, Dieter, made a good impression of the service and tour options and gave us advice about nearby sights and coupon for a food place. Bikes are a good way to get around SF on those up-and-down streets.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
