I really hate that I have to leave a number of characters. We rode across the bridge, it was really cool. Done.

Great time with a brilliant tour leader, very knowledge and good fun! Biked in a group of about 14 from the bike shop to the bridge, then across the bridge to Sausalito where the tour finished (lots of photo opportunities on the way). Brilliant lunch at Bar Bocce for pizza, but many places to choose from. Then you were free... More

Hiring bikes from Fishermans Wharf and cycling around the parks or crossing the bridge is a great idea; using Bay City Bikes is not recommended, however. I had a problem with them, they became defensive, passed me from person to person and repeatedly failed to respond to messages. There is a lot of competition amongst bike hire shops in that... More

We chose this bike rental company from the Trip Advisor reviews. We would thoroughly recommend them. The service and bikes were excellent. We opted for the day hire to bike the Golden Gate Bridge down to Sausalito, it cost a total of $72 for bike, helmet and return ferry ride. We would recommend not doing this trip on the weekend... There are plenty of companies offering this experience ... We can recommend this company as the bikes were in great condition! We passed a few riders who had broken handle bars, chain etc. and were hired from other companies - may have just been bad luck! Allow a good half day! We had one tandem and two single bikes. It... A friend and I visited SF recently knew we wanted to cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge. We decided to book a 3 hour tour over the bridge with Bay City Bikes instead of just the bike hire and it was the best decision we made. The tour wasn't much more expensive that the daily rate for bike hire but... More

We made a bicycle trip from tourist area to the Golden Gate bridge, crossed and were back in just 3 hours! Recommend to everyone.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
