We arrived at Pier 39 at about 7.30am slightly early but ready for the great day we had planned. The lady who sold us the tickets advised us to put a couple of hoodies on to ensure that we were warm. We brought an extra hoodie from the stall to ensure that we weren't to cold. We boarded the boat,... More

Wife and I had this planned for a few months. The day started nice with the sun shining. They spoke of some sea lions in the far distance but you couldn't see them unless you had binoculars, which none of us did. We enjoyed the boat ride for the first three hours (of six). But then the weather turned dark... More

This was an interesting adventure and overall, one that my wife and I were glad to have taken. We and likely others, would probably have benefitted from a bit more information about how to dress and what to bring on the front end as opposed to receiving this information once we had arrived at Pier 39 for the tour itself.... We had a great time out on this tour today. The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly and they make the trip so enjoyable!! Heather was fantastic and made the information about Whales so fascinating with various props and details about the Whales migration. We also had plenty of sea birds to view and that was equally as interesting as... More

March 21st: We headed out at 8am with great enthusiasm, overcast day with light seas. Time passed, with nothing but sea lions, harbor seals, and birds. We were right next to the Farallons when suddenly we seemed surrounded by blow spouts. I counted 4, including a cow-calf pair. Just when it seemed we'd see no more than spouts and a... More

Mid- March - where is the lamb? I wore long underwear tops and bottoms, sweats, woolen socks, a hoody coat, hat, and double gloves, but my butt froze anyway. Had to go inside the "warm and toasty" (NOT - there's no heating) cabin, where the cramped quarters (4 tables with benches, total maybe 24 seats for 80 passengers - and... More

We travelled on the Kitty Kat boat out to the Farralon Islands for the six hour tour. Carol, the resident marine biologist, had a wealth of expertise and knowledge about the local wildlife so as you pull out of SF bay she will give you the need to know info about every animal species you pass. The crew are committed... More

Went on this trip on Nov 11th, we got incredibly lucky. As soon as we went under the golden gate we started seeing porpoises everywhere. Then nothing until we got past the farralon islands. Then out of no where there were two big Orcas on port side, a big pod of white sided dolphins off starboard and about 15 humpbacks... More

Four of us went with the San Francisco Whale Tours on 14th October. We turned up as instructed at 7.30 am for 8am departure( along with more than 50 others) - but the organisers didn't make an appearance until 7.45 - and then conducted a pretty inefficient roll call. We didn't get underway until about 8.20 - it became quickly... More

My husband and I have just come back off our second consecutive day out on the Kitty Kat with Captain Joe, Oscar and marine biologist Carla. We've done many whale watching trips in many different countries around the world but these two days definitely rank up there with the best. The boat is clean and comfortable, Joe, Oscar and Carla...
