Iconic landmark building on Nob Hill. Awesome views.

Drink prices may be a little steep (no happy hour prices here), but treat yourself at least once for this memorable visit and enjoy the views.

I expected this place to be far more plush. I thought that the room lacked ambience. We (4), were there for sundowners. The room was bare with and odd space vacant in the middle (dances?). A tiny little bar over in one corner. Drinks were OK. No sunset - cloud/mist (not the hotel's fault!).

Our experience was purely positive. We are holidaying in California and took advice from our hotel concierge to visit Top of The Mark. The Mark Hopkins hotel looks to be pretty exclusive. Back in the UK you could assume some 'restrictions' on accessing the Top of the Mark bar. None of the sort, hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.... More

Anyone in SF for a visit must take the elevator to the top of the Mark Hopkins Hotel. If you go during the week there shouldn't be a wait for seating. Be sure to go at twilight as the lights of the City are starting to light up and be sure to request a table with a Bay side view.... More

Looked forward to going to the Top of the Mark (top of the Mark Hopkins Hotel) SanFrancisco landmark destination. Too many "too's"; too many people, too crowded, too hot, too expensive for such a poor drink, too "snobby" staff. The good side: the view is too much...360 degree view of San Francisco! Take it or leave it!

We had a pre-dinner drink here last night. There was a bit of a wait to be seated but this is a popular place. The views were great, even though we didn't have a window seat and the cocktails good too. However what spoilt it for me was the noise of the place. The band who were due to play... More

My wife and I just got back from having drinks and a snack at Top of the Mark. We are staying at the hotel and thought we would go have drink. The view was amazing, but was ruined by the bad service. The waiter could only help one table per visit to his area (took 10 minutes to get our... More

I try to go to the Top of the Mark every time I'm in San Francisco and it never disappoints. I prefer the daylight or sunset view to when the city is dark, as a lot more details are visible. On weekends after 8 pm, there is often a $10 cover charge, and the music can be, shall we say,... More

This is a great place to start an evening out! Relaxed atmosphere with a piano player setting the mood. And the views are stunning..... you can see for miles around, sit back have a drink and watch the sunset over San Fran. Stunning!

On a clear day you can see it all up there! But, the buffet was main event. I can't imagine anything that could improve the spread of salads to meats and fish etc. then the deserts were a final touch. It was expensive but in line with the others in the area. Shrimp cocktail and crab legs to start, salad... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
