Our group secured a great conference room to discuss some great close reads for our poems selected. This group had been taking a course on Modren Poetry. Our leader flew in from Los Angeles to review and discuss some of the poems we were studying. There were three of us who traveled over 120 plus miles to be there.

For the locals, the San Francisco library is a treasure - lots of good books, etc. to check out and enjoy. They also have e-book collections. I have enjoyed their book sales they offer. They also offer special events such as author events and more. The main library is close to the City Hall area of San Francisco. There is... More

OMG I totally love the kid's center. I took four of my female students to the San Francisco Public Library and they loved it. The space is very kid friendly and they have a large collection of children's books. There is also a small play area, which is quite appealing. If you have kids and you are in the area,... More

It can be tough to find cafes with wifi and adequate seating in SF, so I decided to take my laptop to the library and work there. When I arrived, there was a small group of dancers performing a book-themed choreographed modern dance, and it set a delightful mood. I love this place!

Having visited many libraries throughout the US (as a hobby) I have seen them all. The San Francisco Public Library has many books in its circulation and a wealth of resources including a business section and a section for the hearing impaired. If you wanted to find a book on a topic I am sure the library would have it.... More

Was nice to go in and see but not a great tourist destination as you can't borrow the books. The staff were not overly helpful, but it might have just been the ones I spoke to were having a bad day.

I love the San Francisco library! It's well kept, has a great and large selection of books and other materials, and I've never had to wait very long for wait listed books. It's right next to the civic center Muni/Bart stop so commute to and from is easy. The only down side is that there are lots of homeless people... More

I was fortunate enough to be visiting a relative with a library card - I gorged myself on new fiction releases after being 500th or so on the waiting list for the MInneapolis library system. I don't know if this means that San Franciscans don't read enough, but it was wonderful for a visitor.

Beautiful library, quiet and peaceful, a few homeless people wandering around but nobody bothered us. Nice break from the city noise.
