I'm in this area about every 3 months, and spent about a month here last summer. Great shoppng w/lots of independent boutiques, as well as some name brands, Peruvian Connection, Jonathan Adler, Marc Jacobs, Kiehl's etc. Excellent food from Indian at Dosa (not to be missed), a great taqueria, Cajun restaurant, a Ban Mee shop, oh, and do not miss... Spent the afternoon with a friend shopping the great boutiques - there are some well known stores like Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Alice & Olivia but also many local boutiques where you can find some unique pieces. Mostly the stores seemed on the higher end side but there were also second hand stores. We found parking easily and drove... More

There are several possibilities for lunch (or dinner). Stray off of Fillmore St. to see gorgeous Victorian homes. This is a lively street in a charming neighborhood.

My daughter and I enjoy the many affordable shops and restaurants on Fillmore Street, which was once the center of jazz in San Francisco. Easily accessed from Geary St., a major artery, and close to Japan Town.

The weather is usually pretty good on Fillmore Street (hello, microclimates!). The area up by Geary Street is a bit seedier; the trendy shops are between Sacramento and Broadway.

North from Sutter Street, Fillmore Street is a wonderfully vibrant and quirky shopping and dining mecca. Hip retail stores and cozy cafes abound and the scene is fun and funky. Buy a coffee at Peet's and just enjoy a weekend stroll.
