Nice Small Venue

We went here to see a Janet Jackson Concert. The Venue is nice and quaint enough to make it seem as though any seat in the house is a good one. My one complaint would be that they... read more

We went here to see a Janet Jackson Concert. The Venue is nice and quaint enough to make it seem as though any seat in the house is a good one. My one complaint would be that they didn't have enough floor security, which lead to the isles becoming General Admission for some during the concert. Which being near the... More

My husband and I came to see Jack White here last weekend, and I was happy with the experience here. The seats are terribly uncomfortable and there are literally sixteen toilets for women in the the entire building. The staff made up for what the building lacked. Also, it is in kind of a bad part of town if you... More

It's kind of a one of a kind classic. It's not pretty though the exterior is kind of a neat period design. Way long ago it briefly housed the NBA team in town when they first arrived in San Francisco for a year or so. And that's what it looks like ... half of an old old basketball arena more... More

I do like the location of BGCA. It's near the Mission & convenient to everything really. this is our second Phish 3 night run there. I learned if you take the elevator and accidentally get off on the wrong floor they yell really loud at you. ( oops sorry) That being said I can't say thanks enough to the security... More

Saw Phish a few times. Great place. I was upset they roped every good seat on the upper level. If its general admission, then it should be for everybody. I show up first and every seat is already taken? Not cool!

...people to gather to watch large events with a stage and seats and lights and speakers and concession stands and programs and expensive prices to see acts from afar when you could watch them close-up on TV or youtube. If you are into convention centers, this is a great place for you to explore as it is kitty-corner from the... More

Good sized auditorium with plenty of bars and restrooms conveniently located. The sound and lighting were great and the views were good from most seats although some were restricted due to pillars.

I came to San Francisco to see Swedish House Mafia at this venue. This was my first night in SF and I did not know the location very well. The cab dropped me off close to the venue and I was not very pleased with the location. There were many homeless people and it was quite scary, especially since it... More

My daughter and I went to see Further on Dec 29. It was a great show the venue was easy to get in and out of the bar was expensive but that is to be expected. Not too long of a wait for drinks though.

Not in the best part of town, especially at night. Very close to Civic Center BART station. Parking is limited in this area, especially if you're coming into the City for concert that will run past midnight.

Neighborhood Profile
Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things government and performance-related in the city. Although its streets are best walked during daytime, numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz center offer year round entertainment within the shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold tipped dome of City Hall.
