Only had to wait 5 minutes for a window seat for 4 at noon on Saturday. When we left if was a much longer wait. Great view of the beach and the ships coming into SF Harbor. I had an oyster stout beer which I think is brewed on premises. Pretty good for $5. Friend had a house Bloody Mary....$11.50!... More

It’s funny how people, tourists, and others who are just curious go to a place and know nothing about its origins. Take this place as an example. Today, it serves as a restaurant and a place where you can observe murals from long ago. My visit was much more than seeing it as a place to dine, but to look... More

Went here for dinner with friends. Great location overlooking the beach. The ribs were good, but the crab cakes were mediocre and Cobb salad was really bad. It takes real effort to ruin a Cobb salad. They delivered the mains while we were still eating the appetizers. Overall, the only good thing about being rushed was that we weren't tempted... More

Classic piece of SF history that shouldn't be missed. Not anywhere near the view at the Cliff House, but frankly, a better value if you want to have a meal. Solid variety of casual dining, but nothing really original. Can pretty crowded during peak hours, as it's not just popular with the tourist crowd. Definitely worth a visit, but try... More

Recommended to us by a friend as being the only place to get good beer, similar to English Real Ale. And indeed the beer was excellent! Food was usual stuff you would expect in this kind of place. Very busy with long wait for a table, but I guess that was our fault for not booking. Fab location with great... More

This restaurant is a bit off the beaten path and you likely would not find it if you didn't know it was there. Fortunately, a colleague from the area recommended it. What a wonderful evening! The views were lovely, even on a rather foggy night. Food and service both very good. Prices reasonable. I would live to go back sometime... More

The Beach Chalet is one of San Francisco hidden gems unless you make the effort to leave the tourist infested swamps of pier 39 and mind numbing trips to Sausalito. It sits on the great highway overlooking the sea with no memory with its back to the city of many colours. Its food is average and it acohol selection is... More

We've been to the Beach Chalet quite a few times. The view of the ocean is stellar. The food and service are usually quite good. I highly recommend this restaurant on a weekday...rarely a wait for a table, full menu, and very good service. We visited the restaurant yesterday (Saturday) around 1:30p...it was very crowded and noisy...waited 30 minutes for... More

It was a rare sunny morning and we decided to have breakfast at the beach chalet. The omelette was bland and any special diet requests were met with "no we don't do that, the food is pre-made so we cant make changes, we don't have any margarine only butter" and so on. Generally a can't do attitude from the waitress... More

WELLL.... where to start -- the lobby - rich in history and the bathrooms are here as well making them VERY accessible to everyone on the beach as well -- yup you guessed it - NOT clean -- as you go upstairs to the restaurant you start to notice dirt and grime including the doors that open to the restaurant...
