For Disney fans, this museum gives you insight into the influences on Walt as well as a certain perspective on his influence on others. I think this is a better perspective on Walt than you get a Disneyland or Walt Disney World.

The Walt Disney Family Museum is located in the beautiful Presidio in San Francisco. It is the ultimate history museum for Disney fans, giving a historical background for Walt and his family from even before they came to the United States through his childhood, youth, marriage, family and development of the movies, parks, and the entire Disney story. Our time... More

A surprising little gem of a museum, located out of the tourist mainstream, but well-stocked with Disney history and memorabilia. Unlike typical Disney enterprises, it is more on the informative and less on the self-promoting side,

I really love most anything Disney, so I wasn't going to miss my chance to see this while visiting SF. It did not disappoint! The exhibit has some wonderful items: First known sketch of Mickey Mouse, Animation Cells, and the engine from Walt's Personal Railroad (CPRR). I enjoyed the visit, and you get to know a lot more about the... More

I visited this museum under duress. My husband was interested in seeing the layout and security systems (he is in the security business) and asked me to come along. I was not enthusiastic about visiting a children's museum, but went along knowing that we would have time for a beautiful hike afterwards. I was blown away by the exhibits -... More

This museum succeeds in telling the life story of a creative, imaginative genius in a stale way. Reading about Walt Disney's life is amazing. However, the library has many more interesting books with better pix. YouTube has many more interesting videos than those shown inside. Walt Disney is amazing. This museum is not. I would not recommend.

I had no idea that there was a Walt Disney museum in San Francisco until my sister, with whom I was visiting, told me about it. What a delight! Very in-depth and illuminating about the man and the corporation. I grew up with Disney, both movies and TV, and have always had a special admiration for him. I recommend this... More

If you have had a chance to spend an hour at the Florida Disney World attraction "One Man's Dream" at Hollywood Studios, then you will EASILY spend at least three hours here. This is NOT a kiddie display but needs to be viewed by people who are able to be in awe of the man and his mission. Number ONE... More
