An absolute must see for the avid Disney fan, or animation enthusiast. Thoroughly inspiring.

I cannot express enough how much I adored this museum. I can only apologise to my boyfriend who isn't a huge Disney nor museum fan like I am, and is most certainly a very quick reader!.. We spent a good two hours in this museum, but you could easily spend an entire day, especially if you stay for lunch (or... More

Allow at least two hours to get through the museum if you are a Disney fan, maybe more. We arrived around 4:00, and felt a little rushed towards the end. Favorite rooms included the Disneyland room, which had a model. Check the schedule for movies, special exhibitions, and movie screenings. There were some shorts being shown, which we opted not... We enjoyed the very interesting layout. It was never boring. It had many displays, videos, photos and areas to sit and relax. You can enjoy it all within 1-3 hours, depending on how much you'd enjoy knowing of Mickey's and Walt's life.

This is an incredible place to visit if you are a Disney fan - even if you aren't, it is interesting because of its location in the Presidio of San Francisco. We spent the entire afternoon wandering through the rooms that have much Disney memorabilia, much of which takes you back to your childhood. There is also a lot of... More

This museum is large and amazing for Disney fans! I would give yourself a few hours to get through it, I personally was there for about 2-3 hours and I could've easily spent another 2-3 there. There is SO much to see, read and learn about Walt. It documents his entire life, complete with photos, home videos and personal items.... More

Wonderful museum and history of the Disney family personal collection. Great for both kids and adults, but children might have a hard time after awhile as it is geared for mostly adults. A thorough visit to this museum will take at least 1/2 day! It is in a great location at the Presidio and near by other interesting attractions! If... More

Located in the Presidio area you have great view of the Golden Gate Bridge from in and outside the buildings. The web site says 2-3 hours for a visit and that just isn't enough if you are a Disney fan. They have a separate building for special exhibits. It was Walt's trains and we spent one hour here alone. It... More

Honestly, the Walt Disney Family Museum isn't anything like it sounds -- true, there are historical elements from Disney Empire founder Walt's life, but the big takeaways are the beautiful, acoustically-perfect Private Movie Theatre that shows a Disney movie every day they're open PLUS the how-they-did-it techniques and displays describing how movies were originally made in "Technicolor," how animated characters... The museum is superbly done, but note that it won't be of engaging interest to anybody maybe under high school age. My only complaint is that Walt Disney walks on water in this museum, so don't expect any enlightenment on his human wrinkles. Ignoring his political difficulties, they could have at the very least pointed out that life long smoking... More

This museum is geared more for adults, it's not Disneyland but about the life of Walt himself. It covers from his very formative years with animation right to the end of his life. Very informative and interesting. We would definitely recommend it to anyone who ever loved anything Disney.
