I have learned, one way to make my wife very happy when we travel is to always do a chocolate tour. We've done them in many cities including New York and Paris. The Gourmet Walks ultra chocolate tour was one of the best especially since we learned more about the chocolate making process and we had previously. This tour was... More

This is the second time in about 5 years that I have taken this tour. It was really good this time and focused on the local chocolate makers and chocolatiers. I appreciated the time Dandelion Chocolates took to help us understand how to really taste the chocolate. I enjoyed hearing about the LaCocina's accelerator process for women. However, the highlight... More

Our guide, Jennie, did an excellent job in helping us get acquainted with the local food vendors of the area. The food was definitely high quality and we so enjoyed the personal attention we received from the owners and personnel of the various eateries! Thank you, Gourmet Walks, for a fun, worthwhile experience. We look forward to returning to the... More

My daughter found out about these chocolate tours in S.F. Our family of 5 decided to do it. Me, my husband, daughter 30, son 25 and son 19. I can honestly saw we all loved it! It's a great thing when you can find an activity that we all will like. Our guide was so informative and interesting. Not only... More

We booked a private tour with our 2 teenage children and my 81 year old father. Mary was our guide and was wonderful! She blended the history of Napa with the food we experienced. A nice variety of food and a wonderful introduction to Napa. Perfect for a family like ours since all could participate. We did a good bit... More

Three of us went on the Russian Hill food tour and it was fabulous! Our guide, Jen, was well-organized, friendly and very knowlegable of the neighborhood. Excellent choices for food stops including artisan pizza, fish tacos (best I ever had), cheese sampling and wonderful gelato. The tour was well paced and we discovered great places we wouldn't have discovered on... More

This tour was a blast! We held a team building event near our office and Ahmet was our fabulous tour guide! He knows EVERYTHING about chocolate and just about everything about San Francisco. We made 6 stops and tasted multiple chocolates at each location. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to try something fun and unique in... More

Our group of 4 did the Japan/Fillmore tour with Shane. We all had a blast, learned a ton, ate a lot of terrific and varied food, and developed a lovely familiarity with this part of SF. Shane is passionate about SF and food, and she is a wonderful and engaging teacher. The tour was extremely well organized, with Shane calling... More

We got to taste chocolate at various locations paired with martin is, beer, and wine. It was 3 hours of fun. We learned a lot about bean to bar suppliers versus confectioners. It was... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
