I did the Japantown/Fillmore tour during my short visit to San Francisco a few weeks ago. The tour was packed with exciting information about the history and culture of San Fran. And on top of it we got to visit all kinds of food joints - Japanese and not so much - which all had one in common - unique... More

I recently went with a friend on a chocolate tour in San Francisco, provided by Gourmet Walks (http://gourmetwalks.com/chocolate-tours/) that was more fun than I anticipated. The walking tour takes about 3 hours, begins at the scenic Ferry Building (a treat in itself), and ends close to Union Square. San Francisco is a very walkable city so the distance covered is... Me and my wife loved the tour, the chocolate was great and had a nice walking tour around San Francisco downtown area. These guysbdid their research about the chocolate shops and had a lot of chocolates to taste!

The SF Chocolate tour was wonderful. My group was small (a family of 3 and myself), which was great. I was able to ask lots of questions. Each store had small samples so you never got too full. Bring a bag with you to keep samples in, because you will not eat all of it! FYI: Most of the chocolate... More

My teens cringe when I say we are doing a tour while on holiday. Not this time! Gourmet Walks hooked us in with in-depth information, interesting facts, and a very well thought out itinerary for their Chocolate Tour. Our guide, Ahmet, was professional, warm, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable. His introduction was the perfect balance of presentation and audience participation. We... More

If you like chocolate, then this is for you! My teens and I took this walking chocolate tour in San Francisco with Valerie and Ahmet. It was Valerie's first tour and Ahmet came along to offer assistance as needed. Despite this being her first official tour, Valerie was very confident and her knowledge of chocolate was commendable. We learned all... More

I highly recommend the Hayes Valley Walking Tour. Our guide, Melissa, was very knowledgeable about the area and fun to be with. This was a private tour with 6 women and it was wonderful. The right mix of food, desserts and fun. The restaurant "hosts" were happy and excited to visit with us and made us feel special...this on a... More

We could not have been more surprised by how much fun we had on this tour! It was so much more than we expected. Our tour guide Mary was absolutely amazing! Not only was she well informed and a great historian, but she was also so much fun and full of enthusiasm. She definitely made the experience for us! From... More

I took my friend for her birthday. We had the best time! It just flew by. Nicole was so knowledgeable about chocolate, the city and so many interesting fun facts. She is just great at her job. She was so friendly and interactive I would definitely ask for her on the next tour if she is available.

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
