Long beach, with lots of locals. If you visit early morning on a weekend, it's a total dog hangout. The beach is sandy, with an area that forms a stream towards the middle- this is a good place for the kids to play safely.

Crissy Field is a pet friendly recreational area with plenty of walking and bike paths. There is easy access to the beach, and it has the added benefit of enjoying spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. It seems like, in general, earlier is better. Traffic can get ugly for tourists attempting to reach the bridge.

Great view of the Golden Gate Bridge! I highly recommend wearing pants though. I wore a dress and it was a never-ending battle with the wind to keep it down! This was the case just about everywhere in SF, fyi! Also, on the 3rd weekend in July it was 63 degrees..freezing! Otherwise, there were lots of picnics and families all... More

Great view of Golden Gate bridge and Alcatraz. Nice little park nearby where you can be shaded and just enjoy the view. very crowded with bicyclists and the parking is VERY limited. nice small gift shop.

Whether you're looking for a good run or a casual walk, Crissy Field can't be beat. Early morning visits are the best time to go, just as the sun is rising. You'll get the best views and avoid the crowds. Plan a stop at the Warming Hut for a snack and some hot chocolate or coffee.

Great fun! Took our shoes off walked along the beach and waded in the Bay. Cold, refreshing way to spend a Sunday afternoon in San Francisco. 4 Stars!

The greatest place to run in SF, flat, windy and with the most extraordinary view of the Golden Gate Bridge! A great place to get in a nice 10k run or just walk if you prefer

This is a stunning strip of land next to the Bay with spectacular views of the GOlden Gate Bridge and just about anything else in the Bay. Full of great energy people walking, running, biking, wind surfing and sailing. A wonderful spot to have a long walk and enjoy the beauty of the bay. Stop at the warming hut for... More

This is such a great place to visit. Lots to sit and watch. The kite sailing, Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Nice for pictures. Free parking . You can take you dog for a walk.. Ride your bike, or just sit and take in the view.. Love going here.

Perfect spot to take in the bay view of the Golden Gate and Alcatraz without the crowds and parking issues! My husband and I stopped here on our way north on a Saturday morning. There were quite a few people, but much fewer than at the actual bridge, and you could still see the bridge and take good pictures. We... More
