Take the tours that are offered for free. Last about 45 minutes. Lots of interesting details, beautiful building, the dome is higher than the U>S capitol!

Since our son attending a wedding here in the Fall and brought home some pictures we wanted to make sure we visited. Outstanding architecture. A great free guided tour.

Before I learned that this is the City Hall - looking at it from the distance - I thought it was some kind of a cathedral! Not surprising given that it's dome is a replica of St Peter's in Rome. My initial aim was to see the place where my daughter's wedding ceremony was held; however it turned out to... More

I went a lone as a day trip on a Friday. I was the only one on the free tour given by Judy. She was a very, very nice woman and very knowledgeable about the building and its history. The building itself is beautiful and a treat to see. Not something you "must" see, but if you've been to SF... More

We saw at least 4 wedding parties while we were at City Hall. The building is stunning and so there's no wonder why people get married there and have their photos taken. You can walk up the stairs and look down on the main area which is amazing. You can wonder through rooms and read about historic moments; it was... More

Compared to other city hall's around the country, this place is like the Taj Mahal. Its always funny when someone tells a guest who's not from San Francisco they're getting married at city hall and their reaction. That's until they walk inside and feel underdressed for the occasion. City Hall is very classy. The rotunda and the dome are amazing.... More

If you're in the area for any number of reasons (library, Asian Art Museum, legal troubles), it's worth a few minutes to look inside. The security is a bit of a hassle, but it's a small price to pay for a quick look at the inside of the building. It is almost as nice as the outside. There aren't that... More

The San Francisco City Hall is a beautiful building, well worth a visit. I noticed that they give free tours and would have loved to have taken one but there were much more pressing things to do, we were getting married. We did have a chance to walk around the building and enjoy the vast expanse of the building and... More
