When you see the imposing dome of City Hall you might actually think you might be in Paris. We came here several times on the HOHO bus tour and its an impressive building.

If you didn't know, you'd think this was the State Capitol. Quite impressive and imposing it definitely stands out in an area surrounded by office buildings. You certainly can't miss it!

This is one of San Francisco's greatest attractions. A beautiful building with some interesting history and even some local art. If you happen to be lucky enough to already have a parking spot in the area, check it out.

This is probably the most beautiful building in San Francisco and the home of our city government. I'm not sure I would call this an attraction however. Outside of special events there's not a lot to do other than enjoy the beautiful architecture. The building itself is the crown jewel of the Civic Center. The entire complex together should be... We wandered into City Hall about 3pm. Should have gone earlier to catch the guided tour. Beautiful building to walk around.

This is a beautiful structure. It's an absolute must photograph! It works best In the morning so go early. It's an experience if you just want to see the building and walk around the place. The people that seem to sleep on the lawn didn't seem to bother anyone.

I stumbled in here as everyone told me it was one of the buildings in SF you have to see. The outside of it is absolutely incredible and the inside is pretty cool as well. The city runs free guided tours of City Hall Monday through Friday at 10:00am, 12:00pm and 2:00pm. I happened to get there right at 2:00pm... More

When visiting San Francisco don't miss the beautiful City Hall. We first saw it all lit up at night while taking a Double Decker bus tour and it is breath taking. Then we took a cable car downtown and visited it again on a Thursday morning. We had a free tour with a delightful woman named Judy. She told us... More

This building is astounding both internally and externally. There are free guided tours several times a day. I highly enjoyed the tour which at my time of visit included just me and another traveller. The many weddings taking place in the interior contribute to the atmosphere inspired by the decor.

Staying in Civic Center

Neighborhood Profile
Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things government and performance-related in the city. Although its streets are best walked during daytime, numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz center offer year round entertainment within the shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold tipped dome of City Hall.
