I have visited in San Francisco many times before and passed by the San Francisco City Hall without stopping. This time I had more time so I took the opportunity to go inside. The building is quite beautiful both inside and out. It has a huge dome which reminds me of several state capital buildings. Inside it is quite impressive... More

The building is gorgeous. The nicest building in California and one of the nicest buildings in the US. It's nicer than the California State Capital and that's one of the nicest state capital buildings in the country. The outside is beautiful with a cool little park and it the lobby is even more amazing with some beautiful architecture. By far... More

After you take your pictures of this beautiful building come on inside. You can freely walk around every floor and see all the different City government departments at work. Catch couples getting married and taking pictures on the grand staircase. There is a great cafe on the ground floor in the back that makes great salads, sandwiches and wraps for... More

It doesn't seem so interesting to go into a city hall building where people are paying their property tax. But the inside is quite magnificent. The grandness feels like you're inside a museum and not a government building. I would recommend a stop here if it's not out of the way. Is it a must? No. But it's nice feeling... More

Most beautiful city hall I have ever seen. The architecture is wonderful. Rotunda not to be missed. Security check to get in. Snack Bar. Lots of couples getting married.

Many happy couples come to San Francisco City Hall in a given day to get married. As such, one finds a lot of happy people when one enters and tours the city hall area. I enjoy seeing them come down the beautiful stair case that is in City Hall. Many pictures are taken and its fun to see. It is... More

Great building with a lot of history. It is particularly interesting to hear of the history of the building and to hear about the tragic shooting of Harvey Milk and Mayor Moscone. A beautiful building that hosted a bloody event.

If you only have a few days in San Francisco then a visit to the City Hall might not be on the list of things to see, but since we were staying for over two weeks we put it on our list. The City Hall is stunning building inside and out, built in 1915, the dome is the fifth largest... More

Love them or hate them, classic city halls still dominate a modern city and connect past and present, the governed and the governors. This City Hall is resplendent both outside and inside. The doors are thrown open with pride to visitors. Although there is not that much to see, as is the way with all civic buildings, the exhibition gallery... More
