One of the most beautiful City Hall I've seen. The buildings surrounding it a quite impressive as well. Lots of homeless people in the neighbourhood so that can be unpleasant but dont let that stop you from going. (It still felt safe)

Growing up in the Bay Area over the years, I have seen many restorations take place to San Francisco’s City Hall. After the Loma Prieta earthquake and the seismic update to the building, its appearance today is even more spectacular than before. Entering city hall for the first time and looking up at the ceiling is quite impressive to look... More

We initially saw this building from the bus. We came back later to see what it was. Had no idea what was inside and initially it doesn't look like anything. Tthen you walk into the main hall and it is incredible with staircase and mouldings. It was only completed in 1982 but copied from the original that was mostly destroyed... More

We went for the architecture, and were not disappointed, but the jewel was watching lots of couples being married, on the stairs, on the balconies, in the adjacent halls... A shame about the number of citizens who 'live' in the surrounding gardens. Evidence of US and California economies.

This is another wonderful place to visit in SFO. Help of professional guide may be sought to understand historical significance of this place.

If you are into architecture, it is indeed a beautiful building, both inside and out. It is worth a look at the very least, from the outside. But unless you are into buildings, then a view from driving would satisfy most. I rated it "average" because I don't really think it is worth a lot of your time because it... More

A must. See the endless stream of happy wedding couples. Admire the structure of the dome and the grandeur of the public spaces. Hear the story of Harvey Milk and Mayor Moscone. Enter at the rear of the building, not on Van Ness and go to the tour desk. There was a paper to sign up in advance which perhaps... More

City Hall is a beautiful landmark of San Francisco, but to reach it from market street, you have to pass through dozens of homeless and people staring at you

The free tour was so worth it. We ended up donating a lot because of the quality of the tour. The history of the building, the assassination of Harvey Milk and Moscone, the operational aspects of City Hall were presented in a humourous and respectful manner. We witnessed so many weddings!!- only $100 to get married, boy-girl, girl-girl, boy-boy so... More
