The War Memorial Opera House is a magnificent San Francisco landmark. Go to the ballet and get your tickets for any of the lower priced balcony seats. Its a grand experience. The bonus is to watch the young exquisite ballerinas dance, spin & leap from their tip toes. Fabulous athletes with toned bodies....bring binoculars!

Excellent in every regard! Superb choreography, dancers, music, and venue. We have seen this particular ballet here before and will do so again. And again! We usually have season's tickets but finances have been snug, but we will ALWAYS find a little money to support SF BALLET.

The san francisco ballet is truly a wonderful group of artists. The dance is a very high quality, the sets, the music, the lighting, and the costumes....all of it, top notch but the "cherry on top" is the war memorial opera house. Truly a grande dame wonderfully adorned.

We have season tickets and for a reason. The SF Ballet brings world class performances, original works and traditional prices to the stage. Superb company.

We love SF Ballet and especially enjoy seeing new dances by up and coming choreographers. Dancers seem to get better each season.

A wonderful evening, the foyer was very festive, the production was stunning for our first time visit to the ballet. The pre show drinks were very expensive, if we were to return, we would not purchase from the venue.

We have been subscribers off and on over the last 18 years. The only times we have not subscribed have been when our financial situation did not allow it. This is a world class ballet company that puts on world class performances. The Nutcracker is a SF tradition and our children have grown up seeing it nearly every year.

Not only is it great ballet, but in the historic San Francisco Opera House, retrofitted for earthquake safety about 30 years ago. A very enjoyable experience.

Every time we have gone to the San Francisco Ballet we have had so much fun. The beautiful costumes, the venue, which normally we combine with a memorable meal before or after, depending of the timing. Coordinating timing is very important as it is hard to predict how long it may take for us driving from the Peninsula. Parking is... More

Staying in Civic Center

Neighborhood Profile
Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things government and performance-related in the city. Although its streets are best walked during daytime, numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz center offer year round entertainment within the shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold tipped dome of City Hall.
