I've been there on multiple occasions and never been disappointed. Where do I start ... Well, first of, it's located in the very heart of one of the greatest cities, so every time you get there, it becomes a special moment. The building is very grand. it has a lot of history and traditions, so you can feel all those... More

We travel from San Diego a couple of times a year to see the San Francisco opera productions. It is such a treat and we love the easy access with public transportation to the War Memorial Opera house by the Civic Center. It is a rather expensive treat but worth every penny. Occasionally they show two or three different operas... More

This opera company delivers consistently high quality performances. The seats in the orchestra section may be original to the house (?), as they are "sprung" and pretty uncomfortable.

I love the San Francisco Opera. It's a world class opera. We most recently saw Masked Ball by Verdi, but I am sure all their operas are great. You can get dinner at the buffet downstairs before the opera. Reservations are required and it's $30 or so. Very good buffet dinner. If you look at the seating chart for the... More

If you were an Opera fan, this would be the best Opera to start you off with. San Francisco Opera did an amazing job with this production. I wish I could have seen it twice. Bravo!

Upper Balcony sound was OK, at times orchestra was too loud for vocal performances. Had drop down screens to better see stage action and translation scrawl, but I would rather see the stage clearly.

The building is striking. The theatre reminds one of European theatres although it is bigger. The various cocktail lounges and wooden counters were a plus. Certainly, the performance was fantastic; the sets were a bit puzzling, but much better than those for the same opera at the MET.

Went to the Norma opera. Even if you don't like opera, you'll like this one. It has great drama, and the female lead is the best ever.

The majestic interior of the SF Opera house is most inviting to lure opera fans to enjoy outstanding productions. The productions have outstanding performers and singers who are world class stars. We just enjoyed attending the opera Norma, which was almost 3 hours long and had one intermission. It had a difficult thrilling soprano part of Norma sung beautifully and... More
