The SF Opera is a treasure for the Bay Area. The talent that they have grown and the stars that they attract make this a cherished musical institution for N. California. The July performance of Traviatta was stunning. You should be a subscriber.

On June 25th, heard "La Traviata" and enjoyed the production. Even if you get "economy" seats, drop down screen will show you all of the action on stage. It's the voices that count and you will hear really good ones here! Whatever is currently playing is worth a visit!

Not a real opera lover, but this opera was outstanding. The main character (woman) will be a super star some day. Was well worth the price to see this great opera.

Standing room spots are still $10, and there is a high railing to lean against if you get there early. 2 blocks from BART and 1 block from Gough St. garage, which does fill up. June season of 3 professional operas precedes July season of Merola opera younger singers every year. Next June (2015) has a new Italian opera commission... More

Heard La Traviata in a beautiful setting. World class production in every way - orchestra is especially noteworthy. Beautifully staged, with full costumes and settings (unlike the cheap passing as chic Covent Garden approach). Free simultaneous broadcast to 20,000 (yes, 20 THOUSAND) opera fans free courtesy of baseball team SF Giants and AT&T. Audience is remarkably young by opera world... More

Beautiful opera set, costumes and production in the beautiful Opera House. We sat in rear orchestra which was perfect. Cannot wait to return.

Liked: I enjoy opera and this house makes it a complete experience. performances are generally good. The pre-opera talk is helpful and a good use of time. The opera house is in the grand tradition. The lobby areas are spacious. The interior is in the great tradition of opera houses. The opera volunteers have made many efforts to make your... More

Booked to see Madam Butterfly whilst visiting SF recently, and the experience did not disappoint. Fantastic performance, great venue, easy to find, and easy to book tickets from an overseas location and pick up tickets at the box office. Downside was cost of drinks at the interval.

Like in the movie Pretty Woman we went to San Francisco for this extraordinary opera - just such a wonderful feeling to sit there and see and listen to this fantastic Opera. It is just so overwhelming. I cannot say enough good things about this Opera.
