The War Memorial Opera House has a full season and the sound is good almost everywhere in the house.

We love going to SF Opera. We always discover at least one new singer whom we love, and the productions are always high quality. We especially enjoy new works, but old standards are wonderful too.

Only 6 chances to see this San Francisco production of Susannah, a great American opera with a lot to say about tolerance. Buy a ticket

Went here a few times with friends. I like that most of the seats offer a great view of the stage. Acoustics are particularly good.

They say that opera is an acquired taste, and San Francisco Opera is the place to acquire it. Over the July 4th weekend, we took in two of the company's summer offerings, Verdi's evergreen tragedy "La Traviata" and Jerome Kern's classical musical "Showboat." Each production boasted a top-drawer cast, including the dashing, young soprano-tenor couple Ailyn Pérez and Stephen Costello... More

Within the U.S. this is second only to NY. The productions are excellent. The offerings are a mix from the traditional favorites to the rarely heard eccentrics. The voices are always perfectly on pitch, and delivered with great drama. Love it!

We usually see 5 to 7 operas a season. The productions are world class and the scene is v. San Francisco. Biggest problem is uncomfortable seats

To see the majesty of one of the grandest edifices on San Francisco's Van Ness neighborhood, spell bound. Not only externally, but breathtakingly inside, and wonder at its space with its second to none acoustics, who's to say they have seen the best if you have not visited it at least once. I have seen by way of good fortune... More

Love the location. Dressing up is fun, but many of the locals wear nice casual dress and feel right at home. The voices, sets, direction, and of course the opera orchestra are wonderful.

The opera house is glorious a must do if you are here. The restaurant is great prior too. I love the sets they are well thought out and the singers are wonderful to see in person.
