On June 7, 1974, Steve Silver produced a small show in the back room of the Savoy Tivoli Restaurant in San Francisco. The show was to run for six weeks. That was over 37 years ago... Today, Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon has the distinguished title of "World's Longest Running Musical Revue." The show - a musical spoof known internationally for its extravagant costumes, outrageous hats, show-stopping numbers and hilarious puns of pop culture and political character - has been seen by over 5.5 Million people, including HRC Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall as well as some of Hollywood's biggest stars."Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon," hailed as "a constant cascade of showstoppers" by the "San Francisco Chronicle", follows Snow White as she takes a fast-paced journey around the world in search of her "Prince Charming." Along the way she encounters a star-studded, ever-changing line-up of hilarious pop-culture characters, including President Barack & Michelle Obama, Gangnam Style, Prince William, Kate Middleton and the Queen of England, Honey Boo Boo, Governor Jerry Brown, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Hilary & Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Nancy Pelosi, Michael Jackson, Adele, General David Patraeus, "50 Shades of Grey," and The San Francisco Giants.

What a funny show!! It's full of political and celebrity satire (which I love). The costumes are fantastic, performances are great. The fun starts when the band comes out and it doesn't stop until the final curtain. Now that I've seen it I wonder why I waited so long!!! We went to a Sunday matinee which is suited for under... Just saw show last night. Too many accolades to write in just a short space. Cast was marvelous. The theatre had charm. The price was reasonable. Don't pass this up. It is as good as any Broadway production I have seen. If you loved Avenue Q on Broadway, you will love this show.

You will see political satire, celebrity satire and Awseome costumes. It is walkable from the Fishermans Wharf area. Have dinner in Little Italy and make sure to get in line early for the best seats! Get a glass of Anchor Steam and get ready for the show! This is a must see in San Fransisco! we saw the Friday night... More

This show is a MUST see. It is a brilliant satire of everything SF and much more. The costumes and performances were fantastic and we couldn't stop laughing. How performers managed to keep the head dresses on their heads makes it quite a balancing act. I guarantee you will love this one.

A wonderful show for both locals and visitors. The costumes are awesome and the performers are so full of energy. And the hats, wow the hats. Never seen anything quite like all the great hats and head coverings. A must see when visiting the City by the Bay

We laughed so hard. This is one of the best attractions in SF and is easy to miss. It has been running for YEARS and had it not been for Trip Advisor's Things to do in SF I too would have missed it. Get your tickets and pay a little extra to sit up front and you may get pulled... More

My husband and I attended this show on February 13, 2015 based on the recommendation of a friend. This show is feel good music and political satire. The costumes, music, singing and dancing are about current events and the entire audience is laughing and clapping along with the cast. The costumes, especially the hats/headdresses/wigs are spectacular. The show lasted just... More

Its a musical revenue which has been going for ages , BUT its right up to date ,with the show sending up current events involving celebrities , politicians , so called show biz people etc ,its all set to 60,70,80s music with a live band . All the characters have enormous hats or head gear , Tammy Nelson in the... More

My wife and I have seen this show twice, about ten years apart, and it does not disappoint. As Snow White searches the world for true love, this music review stays "current", and hilariously entertaining. The acting is as good as the singing. And the costumes are award worthy.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
