On June 7, 1974, Steve Silver produced a small show in the back room of the Savoy Tivoli Restaurant in San Francisco. The show was to run for six weeks. That was over 37 years ago... Today, Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon has the distinguished title of "World's Longest Running Musical Revue." The show - a musical spoof known internationally for its extravagant costumes, outrageous hats, show-stopping numbers and hilarious puns of pop culture and political character - has been seen by over 5.5 Million people, including HRC Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall as well as some of Hollywood's biggest stars."Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon," hailed as "a constant cascade of showstoppers" by the "San Francisco Chronicle", follows Snow White as she takes a fast-paced journey around the world in search of her "Prince Charming." Along the way she encounters a star-studded, ever-changing line-up of hilarious pop-culture characters, including President Barack & Michelle Obama, Gangnam Style, Prince William, Kate Middleton and the Queen of England, Honey Boo Boo, Governor Jerry Brown, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Hilary & Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Nancy Pelosi, Michael Jackson, Adele, General David Patraeus, "50 Shades of Grey," and The San Francisco Giants.

I've seen this performance 5 times and I love it more every time I go. I've taken a few out of town guests and every one just raved about it. The only problem I had was that my face hurt for 3 days after from laughing so much!! It's definitely something you do not want to miss!

I've been to this show 3x in the past 15 years - and have loved every show. The costumes are amazing, the singing is excellent and the show is frequently updated to sync with current events and personalities. Don't hesitate to buy tickets if you are looking for a fun, entertaining and offbeat way to spend an evening in the... More

An irreverent, zany, fun-filled musical spoof that stands the test of time. Continually updated to reflect the latest events in pop culture. We've taken ALL our out-of-town visitors and family members here, with everyone giving rave reviews & still talking about it. Phenomenal singing, dazzling costumes, fabulous performances across the board, & loads of laughs. Even without visitors, we go... More

My boyfriend and I (we are 45 & 53) took the advice of a local and saw this show while visiting SF. I've never seen a show so positively reviewed and now I know why! It was truly a highlight of our trip and we laughed through the whole show. Our cheeks hurt when it was over! It was current,... More

This cabaret is an absolute blast. Sit and listen to stories of San Francisco and issues in the United States as you sip wine. You will leave laughing with big smiles.

A must see for anyone visiting San Francisco who enjoys pop culture and satire. Delightful, fast-paced and hilarious. Updated regularly - included Bernie Sanders, Palin and Trump characters. We try to go every year. Arrive early to get a good seat.

We had a great time, eventhough we were furthest away from the stage the view was good, and the sound was loud enough. (VERY loud) It was fun and relevant and up to date

Nobody is spared in this satirical comedy at Club Fugazi in the North Beach district of SF. Politicians, movie stars, singers, athletes, world leaders, you name it, there is a skit about it. The show keeps up a good pace and the laughs keep coming. The performers are pretty versatile, singing, dancing, even flying out to the audience at one... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
