On June 7, 1974, Steve Silver produced a small show in the back room of the Savoy Tivoli Restaurant in San Francisco. The show was to run for six weeks. That was over 37 years ago... Today, Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon has the distinguished title of "World's Longest Running Musical Revue." The show - a musical spoof known internationally for its extravagant costumes, outrageous hats, show-stopping numbers and hilarious puns of pop culture and political character - has been seen by over 5.5 Million people, including HRC Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall as well as some of Hollywood's biggest stars."Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon," hailed as "a constant cascade of showstoppers" by the "San Francisco Chronicle", follows Snow White as she takes a fast-paced journey around the world in search of her "Prince Charming." Along the way she encounters a star-studded, ever-changing line-up of hilarious pop-culture characters, including President Barack & Michelle Obama, Gangnam Style, Prince William, Kate Middleton and the Queen of England, Honey Boo Boo, Governor Jerry Brown, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Hilary & Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Nancy Pelosi, Michael Jackson, Adele, General David Patraeus, "50 Shades of Grey," and The San Francisco Giants.

I had first seen it in 1981 and the format hasn't changed a bit. It's essentially a fast moving musical review spoofing current culture and entertainment personalities. The songs are not original but some of the lyrics are. One of the hallmarks of this production are the exaggerated costumes and huge hats that the cast wears. If you're visiting San... More

I wouldn't recommend it for kids, a lot of fun adult humor. Skits about politics and pop culture and of course San Francisco. Home of the big hats. There's a reason it's been around for 40 years!

Did not understand American politics so at times not sure what the plot was, very packed with people on ground level near stage made difficult for service of drinks once seated you have difficulty to move whilst waiting for show to begin

Hilarious show with magnificent costumes. Loved it! We sat at a table very close to the front of the theatre. A drink waiter attended us. It was all very civilised.

Had looked forward to this for some time but was left very disappointed indeed. I see a lot of musical theatre and had imagined BBB would be at the forefront of music, dance and comedy. Sadly, the show proved to be dated, tired and based on one or two very old, visual jokes. Performances were adequate but no more, a... More

This show is out of this world. Amazing costumes, superb actors and one of the funniest things I have seen in years. It's no wonder it has been running for so long. I was visiting from the uk so some of the politicians I was unfamiliar with. It didn't spoil it one bit though. I'd recommend this to anyone visiting... More

We've seen different "iterations" of BBB over the years, and this is just a plug for one of the most good-natured, quality-performed, adorably groan-worthy shows you'll ever see. The voices are absolutely sensational, and while some of the "bits" are veering towards slightly cobwebby, most of them are not. Timeless mix of SF icons and current events lampooned on stage.... I went here with my husband and in-laws and everyone was pleased. It was fun, upbeat, entertaining and over-the-top.

Lots of fun. Talent is surprisingly top notch. The voices of some of the stars could equal broadway. Can be a little over the top, but overall a fun evening. We went to the family show.

Parodies fantastic, outfits outrageous. Have dinner first, and then thoroughly enjoy the show. It moves fast and isn't a really long show. You can have a drink as you are taking in the show. We went to an Italian restaurant in North Beach near where the theater is located. Enjoy!
