I've always thought it's a shame that whoever owns the Metreon couldn't find something more to do with it. It's a really awesome looking structure, adjacent to Yerba Buena Gardens and short walk to Museum of Modern Art (which is currently closed due to renovations.) My teen daughter and I were visiting from Marin for the day, and she had... More

Things happened and we didn't get our wine country tour, so nephew took us here instead. The Mereon was interesting. Lots of food choices and lots of people. View was great from Cityview. Was not crazy about Pinot Days. Huge crowds made tasting wine in such a compact space difficult. Can't imagine it was rewarding for vintners, either. Also, I... More

Metreon is close to the Convention Center area of San Francisco. It has a nice green area just outside the Metreon. As such, there are nice views of the area from the large window areas. There is a food court on the first floor and seating area (good place to go if you want something quick and attending the convention.)... More

If you are staying in downtown san francisco and want to do your own cooking to save this is the best place to shop. Within the metreon is now a well stocked target selling groceries. When it comes to supermarkets there is not much located in the area. Other then that for viewing first run movies there is a large... More

This is simply the best place to watch a movie in San Francisco. The Metreon is close to the mall, food, and of course... Target! As well, it sets in Yerba Buena park. The cool thing about the Metreon is if you watch a movie which ends at night, you walk out to awesome views of the city through the... More

Went to the Metreon many years ago and there was an amazing virtual bowling alley. It is now a Target. If you want to go to the movies in San Francisco it's the place to go, but not much else interesting there

Conveniently located next to the Moscone Center buildings, this place was great center to get food from fast food. Loved the Korean soup noodle place. My son loved it too for their dumplings. The grounds out back were enjoyable with lots of grass, young trees and nice water feature. It's bright, modern, safe and busy at lunchtime!

This place has tons of food options at great prices. There are also movies and a target - what more do you need?

This was my second visit from out of town (my first was a couple years ago). I never cease to be amazed at how gargantuan the cinemaplex is. I went to see a movie after having dinner, and was floored at just how large the individual screens are, compared to most across America. It was a regular theater (not IMAX),... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
