We had Frank as a guide who is 2nd generation chinese and who grew up in Chinatown. The tour was really informative with Frank providing lots of anecdotes, he gave lots of history of Chinatown and what made it what it is today. The walking wasn't strenuous and included a visit to a tea shop with tastings and a market.... more

If you are going to San Francisco, make time to take the Wok Wiz tour. You will learn so much about the culture and heritage of Chinatown in a short period of time. Also, DO opt for the luncheon at the end. The food was phenomenal and unique. We were fortunate to have Dorothy as our guide. She is a... more

We went on the Wok Wiz tour on Saturday May 23,2009. I think the tour might have been better if we had been able to go with Shirley but, our group went with Herman and he is relatively new to the tour business we were told. He was a very nice man but had to refer to his notes often... more

My wife and I went on the "I Ate My Way Through China Town" tour and had a wonderful time. Shirley led us in small lectures on China Town history and the history of the food. We ate in local establishments with the food prepared especially for our tour group. It was a fabulous time with great food, entertainment, and... more

I would highly recommend this most enjoyable tour of Chinatown - our guide Frank grew up in the same neighborhoods we visited in mid March 2009 and gave us an insightful and very pleasant visit. You're going to want to see Chinatown anyway while you're in SF, so walk along and learn all about the area with a Wok Wiz... more

Our guide Dorothy was brilliant, telling us loads more things than you'd find in any guide book. And she also took us to places we would never have found on our own (or would have been intimidated about visiting). We got to see so much, and the morning tour finishes with a meal in an excellent Chinese restaurant more

This trip was a fascinating insight into Chinatown and we learnt a great deal in three hours. Being British we thought we knew about tea-drinking but the visit to the Red Blossom Tea Company was extremely informative, the owner telling us about the ceremony and introduced us to the delights of Green tea. Alberta was a entertaining tour guide and... more

I would have to say the following: 1. Try to do on a weekday so there arent so many different tour groups running around. 2. It is worth the extra $10 for the Dim Sum lunch. 3. The guides are very nice and very understandable. My guide was a native of Chinatown yet she could not read or speak Chinese... more

Let me start by saying we had a 5yr old in tow and although he was well behaved for this walking tour, it still was a challenge. We have mixed reviews because our guide's personal insights to his life and growing up in Chinatown were terrific and engaging, but the actual tour was something of a let down. We got... more
