The SF MOMA is in a very nice vertical multistory space with interesting use of contrasting horizontal elements. Plan on spending 2-4 hours here. The curation is quite uneven and disappointing. Overall the collection seems to lack any coherent vision and the overall layout seems haphazard. Many of the pieces seem to be out of proportion to the surrounding space,... more

We've been all over to see art museums from LA to Paris. This place the employees were rude, the art was just sad, and the visit was a huge disappointment. Go to the De Young Museum in Golden Gate Park. You'll be much happier. more

I'm not a big fan of modern art so this review will be biased. I stopped here on a rainy Saturday (Nov 1 I think). For $12 I was disappointed. One and a half floors were closed so that left only the second and third floors to be explored. Some of the art I don't really consider art (like urinals... more

I have always liked visiting modern art museum. I decided to pay a visit to San Francisco's MOMA since I had not been there for a good few months. I highly recommend the free docent tours. I joined the 1 hour tour and my guide, Daniel, was excellent. Our theme of the tour was"Red" and how this color played a... more

...I agree with the last review, they did a very good job describing the place. We were through it in less than 45 min., including eating, my advice is skip the food you won't be there long enough to get hungry. We went on a thurs. night so it was $12.50 for two of us to get in and it... more

My girlfriend and I had intended to make an afternoon out of the SFMOMA. We both left disappointed. The feature exhibit when we went was the artwork of Frida Kahlo, but since that wasn't of particular interest to us, we paid the standard rate to see the rest of the museum. We paid $12 per person that way, avoiding the... more

SFMOMA has a collection similar to MOMA in Manhattan. The museums admission is comparable to MOMA's. SFMOMA is about 1/3 the size in terms of square footage. SFMOMA has a rotating collection, therefore it's hard to comment on the collection. Admission is pricey, however evening discounts apply-be sure to check. Gift shop was average-but pricey (typical at a museum). Cafe... more

Worth a few hours of your time in SF if you love art. The Yerba Buena Gardens across the street are lovely. Around the corner there's a tapas bar and microbrewery named the Thirsty Bear. Awesome beers and delicious tapas. The tex-mex place that you can see from the front of the museum on the next corner is also quite... more
