I have been coming for 20 years to San Francisco for conventions here. Unfortunately, despite the beautiful center, the area around the center for at least a mile is covered with thousands of drugged out panhandlers who are aggressive with passersby all hours of the day and night. I saw some attack children and adults and police are powerless to... More

We have stopped by here, but more often visit the web site. It is a source of information for travelers to San Francisco Bay Area. It also has an events section to see some of the things across town that are going on. While there are other sources for this information; this web site generally does ok for major events... More

We were staying in the area and this was very helpful. I had a rough idea of what I wanted to do during my couple of days in the city, but they helped me refine my plans. Thanks for their help in making this a great trip.

Though I once lived in Berkeley and still get to the Bay frequently, I often stop here when visiting San Francisco since these friendly and helpful folks can tell me what I should see that I haven't visited before, and just as importantly, how to use public transportation to get there. My most recent visit was to find out how... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
