We eat here every time we come to San Francisco and always enjoy the experience. My husband started with drinks after a long morning of travel...Bloody Marys and draft beer...a great way to start vacation! We shared the fish tacos and absolutely delicious clam chowder. The view was delightful, but breezy, as to be expected.

We asked our concierge for a place to have a family celebration that was casual, reasonably priced, and had a variety of food. He made us reservations at Pier 23. Our family of 14, aged from 5 to 67, were given a table outside, on the water. They have a large menu that accommodated those that love seafood, and those... More

The food is fresh and the view is great. The service made it even nicer. The price is reasonable. Parking is off street and can be easy to find if coming in the early evening. There's a live music on the weekend as well. It's a nice little spot.

Great place to stop for lunch if doing a walk from Bay Bridge/ Market St to fishermen's wharf area. Pleasant walk on a sunny day. Good seafood sandwiches and chicken wings.

They have happy hour which includes the whole restaurant M-Th from 5-7 and Friday I think 6-8pm. The peel and eat shrimp are great as is everything on the happy hour menu and regular menu. They also have live music in the bar. When I was there, it was a piano player. Great views.

Part of a Cosmos/Globus tour. Our bus stopped here on our 1 night stay in San Fran. ALot of spud vendors ! So, eventually got myself one, as there wasn't much of anything else worth buying to eat there ! A very busy Pier. Not realy worth going here again, but a first time is a must. There was a... More

This was my third and last time. The previous two were decent, saw them on DDD. I did have a seat at a bench/table outside so the ambience was decent. My server was nice however the food was terrible. The Crab bisque had little flavor. The Crab Shrimp Crab Louie Salad for $20 was ridiculous. The "lettuce" was the same... More

This place is full of it. It's our second time here. None of the stuff they made for Guy Fieri is on the menu or ever was. They don't want to be bothered with tourists - despite being a tourist trap, but I'm sure they can't afford their shack without them, so they compromise by being snotty. I have, in... More

Saw this spot on Guy Fieri show on our way to San Francisco, so planned it into our trip. The clam chowder was meh ok. It was on the thin side and lacking flavor. I forgot what the other 2 in my party..I forgot what they had but they also gave it mediocre rating. If you can't remember it...it's not... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
