The cafe is ideally located in the tourist zone of San Francisco on Emarcadero. It takes just a few minutes to walk to the cafe from the famous Pier 39 with its hundreds of sea lions sunbathing in front of spectators or from the ferry station. There are indoor dining halls in this cafe, as well as an open terrace... More

Visited here several times and found the food was great, drinks reasonable and the view was exceptional . Looking out across the bay added to the enjoyment of this bar.

I went here because I know the place. I have been here before and enjoyed the atmosphere, drinks, and food. The service has never been incredible but I chose it again for the familiarity and because I wanted a place close to where I was staying where I could watch the game. After standing at the, "please wait to be... More

Very cozy bar/restaurant which packs up very quickly. Tasty food/(oysters!!!) and a good selection of draft makes this a great venue. Out back you are right on the water with outdoor seating. Later, live entertainers come in and (on my last visit) played music from the roaring 20's. Great spot. (needs more seating)

At the end of our first day in SF my girlfriend and I had some craft beer in this little cafe. It was a nice and short visit. It is definitly worth it to stop by.

Pier 23 is one of the smaller Pier along the walk of the Pier's with a great little cafe/bar that has fabulous views across the bay. A nice place to stop off for a drink and a snack. (forget the coffee....nobody seems to make great coffee in America!... that is my mission to find one that does!)

This is a great bar with live music, great beer and lovely food. We was walking past and decided to have a drink in here. There was a band on when we first walked in which was great to watch but after they had finished we went and sat outside and the views of the bay are amazing. The staff... More

We eat here every time we come to San Francisco and always enjoy the experience. My husband started with drinks after a long morning of travel...Bloody Marys and draft beer...a great way to start vacation! We shared the fish tacos and absolutely delicious clam chowder. The view was delightful, but breezy, as to be expected.

We asked our concierge for a place to have a family celebration that was casual, reasonably priced, and had a variety of food. He made us reservations at Pier 23. Our family of 14, aged from 5 to 67, were given a table outside, on the water. They have a large menu that accommodated those that love seafood, and those... More

The food is fresh and the view is great. The service made it even nicer. The price is reasonable. Parking is off street and can be easy to find if coming in the early evening. There's a live music on the weekend as well. It's a nice little spot.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
